Just finished reading some other forum...
And I must say, despite Mana making it a hobby to torture people, this forum here is rather friendly...
Out there is a war... a war fought by intolerance with flaming as its weapon...
Please don't mind me. Most of the time I don't make much sense... and mostly I don't even try to.

Jaooooo~

I find the worst forums tend to be the ones who have stricter rules to want to maintain a 'child friendly' image. Like Lego, Transformers etc. forums.

Because the mods of those forums are often hypocrites. I saw a thread on a bionicle forum where a guy was banned and the reason the moderator gave was 'THIS USER HAS BEEN BANNED FOR INSULTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.'
ze!

Kureha

Well, main stream forums usually suck because the "normal fags" flood it, most of them are rather, retarded. We don't have any epeen contests and circlejerking here.

You should know that I bark more than I bite, and even I have moments when I question myself if I wasn't too harsh or if I said too much, but, at the same time, it's at those same moments that I'll adamantly refuse to admit it. lol

sazabi

right right, its all about keeping the image intact huh ;D

Mana

I'm too stubborn to admit that I'm wrong. There was a funny case where I gave up only after a hour long discussion with a friend. It gets worse when people insist with me to say something that they want me to say, which usually leads me to say the opposite, even if I don't mean it.

sazabi

wait, saying the opposite of what you mean, hmmm is that a glimpse of tsundereness i see... :D

working for free sucks

It's not too bad in the long run.

Mana-yan is absolutely tsundere. lol

And yesh. Well, AerisLives used to be nice. Meh

Depends on the internship and what your pursuing. Working for free or the bare minimum won't always help if your after a job that is completely unrelated to the internship. Some employers may even question your choice if your after something too different from what your experienced in.

It's obvious that the job experience on a certain area will only help you getting a job on that same area. If it's not what you want, what the hell have you been doing?

I only learned what was a tsundere many years after I already had such traits. lol

So I'm thinking of getting a desktop for all my photoshopping needs. Ideally I would also like to run games as well, but that takes secondary priority I guess, and also I wouldn't really be playing the latest hardcore crap or anything anyway.

Now, I would need to run photoshop smoothly, that would be the main thing, but I also would like ot run manga studio, possibly at the same time. There's also web browser, chat, music (all of which should be fine anyway).

Price ranges from lowest to highest here. I'm probably looking for the cheapest, so the top one. But if substituting any of the parts would also work I'd like suggestions. I'm clueless to hardware. But the place also said stuff like "A majorly overclocked X6 1055T" would be good for just about anything. I'm not so sure about overclocking but whatever works, and will work for at least say 2 years steadily would be fine. I haven't posted prices up, since they're different everywhere, but I can do that work later. Anyway, teach me guys. =D

Oh yeah, what do the acronyms stand for?

sazabi

wonder whos the resident techie here?

Mana

The i7s are overestimated. In practical tests (not 3DMarks and other tests like that), their performance doesn't make much of a difference in comparison with the Athlon II X6, which doesn't justify the price difference between them. If you go into overclocking, CPUs are easier to OC than a few years ago and the Athlon II X6 can easily get and surpass an i7 that way. Of course, the i7 can also be overclocked, but once again, it doesn't justify the price difference.

Even though you don't give priority to gaming, it would be better to have a graphics card. No matter how bad it is. The onboard graphics will eat away your needed RAM (for PS, Manga Studio and the rest) and make it slower.

Talking about RAM, you'll probably make more use of 6GB of DDR3@1333, than 4GB of DDR3@1600. The differences in performance between them aren't significant, but if you want to use a x64 OS, and want it to last, it's better to go for 6GB. If you can get DDR3@1600 at the same price as DDR3@1333, even better.

The SDD would help you in access times and loadings, but what am I reading? Samsung HDDs? Did they become reliable out of nowhere or you're just going after their price?

And what acronyms are you talking about?

Oh yeah, why am I even looking at an onboard graphics card. Hmm, I'm not too sure what's involved in overclocking so I don't want to experiment if I can help it. RAM sounds like solid advice, but I can't understand it Mana-yan.

Oh and lol, I complained about the samsung HDD's, but they're to bring down the price. per TB they're really cheap, but I'd probably end up going WD unless
someone thinks Seagates are good and can convince me. The scratching kills me since my laptop one got changed from WD to SG.

What's SDD? Mobo? PSU? I won't be using the disc drive all that much, since .iso's are so prevalent these days, so would the cheapest one be fine too? Hmmm, I don't know anything about motherboards either. And yeah I heard the i7 is way overpriced, but what about an i5 or something? Would the phenom or X6 be better? OS I'd be running would probably be Sebun 64x.

Currently I'm running XP if I haven't told already, a laptop wiiiiith...uhh

Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 @ 2GHz
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
Oh hey I am running WD. Well shit.
WDC WD2500BJKT-75F4T0 (what does all that mean? I think it's about 320G iirc
3GB of RAM

about 3 years old. I might get a laptop as a present as well, so I'll probably use that for more private shit like H-games and anime. I have a BenQ HD monitor I'm currently using so I won't need that. I'm also considering a sound card, and also I'd like for it to be a fairly portable chassis. Hmmm I can't think of anything else that might be relevant, but I'll end up looking up a lot of the stuff if you guys don't know, don't worry or anything.
