Poor encodings usually make short work of good sound effects. I confirmed it when I bought my AV Receiver and it's speakers. All MP3 and AACs reencodings sound really bad when compared to the original AC3 tracks. There are a lot of effects that are lost in the process and it's awesome to watch again some movies/anime that I liked just to discover what I was missing. But there are also many cases of pew pew and pum pum that aren't saved not even by their original soundtracks.
