So besides the plus heroines whats the difference between the two games?

From what I got, the routes are different from the ones on the original title. I just don't know how different they are.

Kohime Musou is just one big route where you get pretty much a harem of all main characters from each other country. You only end up with the most annoying characters in the end though ( sorry just my opinion ;< )

Shin Koihime Mushou are 3 different routes which focus on the 3 big main countries and are very different from each other. The main arcs are pretty good actually, for example the Go/ Wu faction story had 2 really depressing moments which were pretty impressive. Add on top of that tons of new characters and interactions to the game and make it at least 3 times as big as the first one, and you got a game which is a lot better than the first one imho.

Why was this translated again then?

This one has more characters, which means more seiyuu and more royalties to pay. If that wasn't enough, Koihime Musou was the longest VN translated until now, even than Fate/stay night which is already longer than the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The time that it stays as the longest one translated depends on how long YU-NO stays in editing hell.

I compared Shin Koihime to it due to how expensive it would be to translate something as massive as that without any guarantees that it would make a profit.

And yes, it's really longer than LOTR's +1000 pages. Mirror Moon posted something about that when TakaJun got through the entire script.

P.S.: I just checked and that post was related to Tsukihime which we already know that's shorter than Fate.

Koihime musou is not comparable to Fate Stay Night (personal opinion) fate is way better. I dont know about the royalteis they already dumped the seiyus (sorry if im spelling it wrong) in Kohime they could done the same in Shin as well but oh well.
I hope its gets translated but it depends on how much profit does Kohime generates i think.

Seeing how we still got no official voice patch ... it didn't sell all too well I'd say.

It still cost a lot and the price didnt drop that much after they annonced the voice thing people could be waiting for a voice version but who knows.
