That would be the standard-routine to install any kind of game/programm you got the image of.

For VNs, there are some things you have to, or at least should, follow.
So, if the VN isn't "native" english, meaning, you need a translation patch for it (like for this one), the game has to be installed while in japanese regional.*
This can either be done by manually changing your settings to japanese regional or installing AppLocale and through this starting the setup.exe (or whatever) with said program under japanese local (last option in the languages list).
After that use the translation patch to actually be able to understand something.
After that's done, to be able to play the game you have to be in japanese regional setting or you have to use AppLocale again.**

And that's about all that's different about a VN and a "normal" game/program, just the regional setting.
If you're actually to lazy to start AppLocale every time to start the game you can also use an option so that AppLocale creates a shortcut for which starts the program in the regional you specified... you just have to find it then (I can't remember where AppLocale puts the shortcuts, though).

*Ok, not every game needs this, but there can be problems while installing if you're not in the regional... Some games don't install at all.
** Here also, not every game needs this, but others won't do anything at all.
Please don't mind me. Most of the time I don't make much sense... and mostly I don't even try to.

That's already a wall of text?
And I even tried to make it short while keeping most information in :O

But aren't VNs even more of a "wall of text"?
Or do you just read one panel and then exit the game? ;D

your forgetting VNs have pretty pictures as a distraction

So if I put a picture up there it wouldn't be a "wall of text"?

wall of text... I'd explain it like this... works for me at least.

... after you mount the DVD, just set your system to jap locale in language settings, run as admin, install by guessing which button is accept, next, etc. ... and then apply the patch... sometimes the patch is nice enough to install for you in the case of mirror moon...

to mount the DVD... either burn the files you've downloaded to a DVD... the iso or whatnot... or use a virtual drive like daemon... (daemon is easiest... just mount the appropriate file and it simulates you burning the thing and then putting it in your CD drive.)

So iv downloaded all the parts 1-15 and extracted them, Which gave me a bunch of new win-rar files. I then extracted all those to a new folder, giving me disc 1, disc 2, and a third file. I then use daemon to mount disc 1, and ran setup, however, during the install process I get an error message that I dont understand and cant continue ;s

You're not using japanese regional or AppLocale, so no one can understand the gibberish in the error window.
First use that, and then, when the error comes again, then probably someone can help you.

Usually, you don't have error messages when you run the installer with the Japanese locale and through AppLocale.

installation problems usually seem to arise from incorrect regional settings from my experience
