They didn't do a very good job of hiding the Komachi route...it was pretty obvious she was going to be a hidden heroine from the start considering how often she pops up.

Hey guys, thanks for the MDN2 torrent.  Now, like I did with the first game, I cracked open the script container and began rooting out all the fake wacky names they put in for the cars and replace them with the proper ones.  I also assigned new BGM to some scenes as well.  
I took the liberty of uploading a package containing both of these, so you can enjoy them as well.  Please do note that I've only started on the editing a few days ago, and due to the way the routes are layed out, I actually have to pretty much edit the script in another window as I play, and then updating the container after I've quit it.

As far as I know, the only scripts that I'm 100% sure have been edited are the main story scripts up to the end of chapter 6, the battle scripts, as well as Komachi's scripts.  Most of the character scripts haven't been edited since I'm focusing on Rinka's route right now.  The system.pkd file goes into the game's main directory.  Just overwrite it when asked.

For the BGM, you must at least put all the bgm not in the "D2_bgmxx.ogg" format into the BGM folder.  Otherwise you'll hear silence where you should be hearing music.

Also included are a list of the real car name and their fake name equivalent.  Use this to check if I've actually missed something.

I will have to use that when I actually play it. I don't know about your new music choices, but the real car names is a nice touch for someone who wouldn't be able to recognize most of them, like me. Thanks!

Sorry to be picky, but do you have a version with only the car renames?

Here's just the script changes.

(REMOVED.  NEW VERSION'S UP)

Just a word of warning though.  Without some of the BGM I provided (eg. Any BGM not named like the others), you will get silence instead of music.

So at the risk of spoilers, let me explain what BGM gets played when.

Arcade:  Originally, both the scene at the very beginning of the game (at the arcade) and all the races until chapter 6 use D2_bgm11, but since I wanted to use a custom one, I renamed the original because one of the long sfx files in the arcade has this track playing in the background.

Awakening:  This gets played in place of D2_bgm15 during the second half of the race against the S15 Silvia.  I had something appropriate for the scene, but I didn't want to use it as the second race BGM for races starting in chapter 6.

86_sanjou:  This gets played in chapter 3 during the AE86's intro video.


Showroom:  This one's for a Rinka character event that you can get as early as chapter 5.

(Anything with Hakosuka on it):  These 3 BGM are for chapter 5.  If you don't have "Hakosuka_Battle" in the diretory, then you won't be getting music for the race in that chapter.

Those who follow the MDN thread on the JASTUSA forums will most likely have seen my rants (as "HashiriyaGDB") on the mistakes and idiot moment they made and had during the localization.

I really like the OP music. It fits somehow. Yes the mistakes are kinda ridiculous and at first I thought they were done on purpose (to prevent copyright...like they do with McDonalds in anime and games...or burger queen) but I'm not so sure anymore. If this is really just a bunch of failure at translating I could understand. However the missing script and music is rather annoying.  Very useful to know where they got lazy in the translating of the game.

Thanks for the comments so far.  If you're using it, please be sure to send me feedback if possible, plus another clerical errors that appear because I missed them.  Also I need to guys to keep a look out on a possible "find and replace" error.

Okay, so they changed Toyota to Toda.

What I did in the scripts was find Toda and replace with Toyota, matching case.  The problem is that it may have also replaced the Toda of "Today" and turned that into "Toyotay".  I'm going through all the relevant script right now and doing a "Toyotay -> Today" replacement, but if you come across such an error, note down where you saw this when you send the feedback.

86_Sanjou: "Theme of AE86 - Action" from Initial D Fourth Stage (to be replaced in future archives)
Awakening: "Side by Side" from the Wangan Midnight anime
D2_bgm03: "GTR2 Trance" from Simbin's "GTR2: The FIA GT Racing Game"
D2_bgm10: "Strategic Way" from the Wangan Midnight anime
D2_bgm11: "Midnight Insanity" from "Enthusia ~Professional Racing~" by Konami
D2_bgm12: "Cold Strain" from the Wangan Midnight anime
D2_bgm15: "The Power Of Gasoline" by Mega NRG Man.  One of his original tracks.  The opening for MDN2 actually took a couple of bars from this song.
D2_bgm19: "Senjou no Ketsui" from Gundam SEED (to be replaced in future archives)
Hakosuka: "Strange Vehicle" from the Wangan Midnight anime
Hakosuka_attack: "Like Hell" from the same
Hakosuka_Battle: Combination of "Run of S30Z" and "Speed of S30Z" from the same.
Showroom: "Psychonaught" from "Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed"

As of tonight, I've added more BGM assignments, so in the next archive that I'll be posting later this week, I'll update the list.
And as a teaser........."Noizy Tribe" is one of those new BGM assignments.

He's definitely a more interesting character than Shou.  Plus, he seems to know what he's talking about.  I actually got through the races without the need for a walkthrough whatsoever because I kept whatever knowledge he had shared in previous chapters.
