The problem is when you don't know the right people and your eyes make you like a junkie, bloated and red.

Green_Tea

This little sheep is gonna get a degree anyway. Hopefully it'll be of some use to writing stories.

Kureha

I don't have any experience or know the right people. I hate how society runs this way.

Indeed degrees are overrated. In the end getting a job is all about knowing the right people.  Once you have a foot in the door for your first real job, getting another one is easy. Experience >>>> Degree.

College is a good place to make connections, though. My sister's an aspiring cartoonist, and she openly admits her school taught her very little she didn't already know, but the internship she got through it is about to hire her for real, and the guy running the place thinks she really has talent and is negotiating to get her a really awesome illustration job too.

It sucks right? Either you get lucky or you work your ass off. Or you go into illegal activities or find a loophole to exploit.

Of course you don't even have to live earning heaps of money. As long as you earn enough to live in a way which is comfortable for yourself what more do you need?

True. The point is that it isn't the be or end all, which is what they seem to make you think while you're at school.

Living on 200usd a month for salary sucks. I can't afford upgrades and keep things running this way.

mahou

Ouch, I can't even imagine trying to live on just 200USD a month. Figured out how to take donations yet?

Kureha

Green_Tea

depends where you are. I know my friend can buy a new computer for 200 usd and that's pretty good for a month's wage.

sazabi

indeed, its all relative, i'd say some third world place would find 200 USD/ month plenty to live on

Green_Tea

...Kureha lives in Africa?

Green_Tea

Looking to play Alien vs Predator: Extinction. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Kureha

Do you really think I'ld be able to have K1 running in Africa?

Do you even think 50mbps/5mbps fiber is available in 3rd world countries? I might not be living in a first world country but I'm quite far from 3rd world.

sazabi

nope i was not trying to guess where you lived, just making a general statement
