Fictional worthless male leads in a harem, makes the males in the real world think that there's still 'hope' for them... ... well not all guys from the real world. but you get the point.

this argument has always puzzled me, is it meant to imply being more of a loser increases your chances of getting a harem?  :o

Mana

I hope that no one really thinks that way.

I don't think he worded it very well but the idea is that a dorky loser more closely resembles the target audience, which makes them better identify with dorky-loser protagonist so they can vicariously live out wishes of having lots of cute girls hanging around them despite doing nothing to deserve it.

sazabi

lol, reminds of daria , 'sick , sad, world'  :D

Green_Tea

You mean I should stop pretending to be a loser and actually go talk to girls if I want to get a girlfriend? Preposterous!

inferno_flamex

... .. The reverse is also true.

The more of a 'loser' you are; the higher your chances of having a romantic harem in your own fiction.

Mana

Because the people who write successful romantic harems continue being losers if they ever were one.

sazabi

so instead of making it for losers to think they have a chance, its more the producers are projecting themselves as the leads in those games ;D

Mana

I have to start warning that I'm using sarcasm.

Why would anyone who is experiencing success on his career be a loser? Their main characters can be self inserts that can accomplish their unfulfilled dreams, but if they can make more money from it than what they need to support themselves, I don't see why they should be labeled as that.

for both producers and target audience, how convenient  :)

Kureha

Is it just me or is K1 getting a drop in visitors and activity?

Mana

43 people online today isn't anything out of the norm. We were getting more than 60 visitors per day a short time ago, but it could have been related to certain releases. And the lack of activity is the same as always besides when we are harassing someone.

Kureha

175,757 visitors in July 127,435 so far this month. 319,252 back in Feburary, so we're getting less than half the visitors we used to.

Mana

There are people like Nanaya who only found K1 again a short time ago. Most of the visitors are probably still looking for the old address.

sazabi

thats probably the biggest issue, the constant change of address
