I have started to take an interest in Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have heard a lot of good things about it but I am not sure on where I should start. Should I watch the Series or the Movies, 1.11 – You Are (Not) Alone and 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance?

I saw the original, didn't really like it, the last couple eps was a mind****. Heard the movies were good, haven't watched it yet, I think I'll watch it all in one go when they finish.

Original TV show: Great stuff back than, horrid ending.
First movie, Death and Rebirth: Just compresses the Tv shows in a movie.
Second movie, The end of Evangelion: Starts roughly at Episode 25 of the Tv show, pretty epic and gives the show a proper ending.
New Movies: Alternate retelling of the story. First movie is very similar to the original Tv show, but shit hits the fan in the second one.

The original Evangelion and movie were pretty average even when they were released. The battles were really cool and the setting had potential, but Shinji and Asuka weren't at their level. They are even worse when the fanboys start throwing around their pretentious garbage about how deep they are. And I haven't bothered yet with the new movies.

i gave up trying to make any meaning from the series long ago and mostly watch it for the battles

just watch the original because it is actually completed so you won't have to wait years for the movies imo

i liked the original series, it kind of went haywire in a bad way toward the end but i figure if you're going to watch 3/4 of a series you should stick around for the ending
