Novel Updates Description
Summoned to be a hero in another world, Liu Ji's fate took an unexpected turn as he landed in a barren wasteland. With no survival skills, he chose an extraordinary method to stay alive: turning into a potato.

Rooted in the wilderness, Liu Ji performed photosynthesis and drew sustenance from the earth. Through this humble form, Liu Ji harnessed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, absorbing the essence of all living things.

Notes
As usual for my uploads, I've included a zip file containing the source text file, and from which you can create your own pdfs or epubs. I don't use epubs so I won't be providing them. And like always, if anyone wants to create and post an epub for others using my source file then by all means please do.

The chapters aren't split into story arcs on either the source of translator's site, so the "Volume 1" label is entirely my own doing, and covers chapters 1-45. And instead of splitting the volumes based on a set number of chapters, I've hopefully split Volume 1 where a story arc would likely have ended, so readers should be able to read Volume 1 and come away feeling like you've read the first arc of this story. Or at least the last few chapters of Volume 1 cover the aftermath of the first major story event, and chapter 46 starts introducing new characters and locations. So there was also a sense of now or never in terms of finding a suitable place to split off Volume 1.

re: The translation.
Overall, for a fan translation, it's been very readable throughout so far, with little to grumble about. And it's reading heaven compared to the unedited MTL shit that a lot of groups are dishing out. I can't comment on the accuracy of the translation, but apparently the translator, BeetleBarker, has a good rep based on their previous translations of "I'm Really Not The Demon God's Lackey" and "Superstars of Tomorrow". So that likely offers a good level of assurance about the translation.

There were a few badly worded sentence, though, and the bizarre use of "fishes" for the plural of fish, which is a mistake I've never seen before. There was also a frequent problem of missing quotation marks at the end of dialogue, and the odd half-done or missing translation where a sentence made no sense, and upon checking the raws I could see there was a part of the sentence missing. I've corrected any errors I came across, reworded the worst offending sentences, and used as many MTLs and AIs as I could to hopefully translate the missing parts of those untranslated sentences accurately enough. If you do spot any problems then let me know and I'll fix them up. I might have missed a few, especially the missing quotation marks due to how often they were missing.

re: Updates
The translator is currently releasing 5 chapters a week, and c47 was the most recent. I'll probably start compiling Volume 2 once chapter 100 has been released, and then like with Volume 1, use by best judgement on where I can split off a story arc for Volume 2. So assuming the translator continues at the same speed, then I should be uploading Volume 2 sometime in October.

Edit - October Update - The rate at which locked chapters are being made free slowed down significantly at the end of August, and it hasn't even averaged a chapter a week since then. The last one currently unlocked was c71 on 28th September and there doesn't appear to be any set schedule for unlocking them either, so no idea when I'll be updating this now. Locked chapters only go up to c95 as well, so can't rule out the translator has put it on hiatus, if not dropped it.

Uwaaa... Author tried to get impact with wild idea, but potato.. really?@Ozmadeus99 - It's one of those bait titles to lure readers in with a unique and bizarre premise, but (minor early spoiler) [[the MC has a human form by about chapter 4].

I've found it a good read so far, and despite the title, it's basically a Japanese isekai story. If you swapped the MC's Chinese name, and the real world Chinese references for Japanese ones, you'd have a hard time telling it wasn't a Japanese WN. Although the story being written a bit too well will probably be a giveaway.

Good or bad I'll always try any novel since it's free. I know it's a bait, but I'll bite. Still don't have time for it tho, so many novels piled up
