How does it compares to Everybody Loves Large Chests?
Anthony, the monster in Chrysalis, is a lot more "human" than Boxxy. So a lot of the worst of what Boxxy gets up to is absent. Both are motivated by self preservation. but Anthony has a bit more of a mindset geared toward facilitating cooperation. Overall, I think the later volumes of ELLC are better written, have more character, and are more entertaining than most of Chrysalis, but I could see a lot of people being put off by the rape, genocide, and such that features prominently early on in ELLC. Chrysalis isn't badly written, but there's a fair bit of repetition involved in both its jokes and litRPG styled mechanics. Chrysalis is also a slow starter on character development/interaction, but it gets better as it goes along. For the point where it is at relative to where ELLC was at with a similar word count I think Chrysalis's character development compares well.
Flavor wise, ELLC might be better compared to something like RE:monster, or an amoral wuxia/xianxia MC like Warlock of the Magus
Whereas, Chrysalis might be better compared to something like When I reincarnated i became a slime or I'm a spider so what than ELLC. I think Chrysalis is a bit more mature and less light novel-y ( if that makes any sense) than those examples. I guess if Slime is white, spider is greyish white, and ELLC is black, Chrysalis is a grey with a tinge of white.
Overall, I thought both are pretty excellent novels, and you'd lose little checking out either. I preferred ELLC overall but the best parts of Chrysalis are better than the worst parts of ELLC.

Goddamn that was good, I can't wait for the next book.
I'd compare it a lot to "I'm a spider so what" (which is another huge favorite, so no surprise I like this one), they are very very similar.
The difference would be that I'm a spider is a lot better at visualizing the world, and as a character spider is a lot more efficient and knows whats she wants to do and how to be the biggest baddest monster she can end up as, all the while struggling against ever greater threat that keeps her as the underdog a damn long time.
Compared in chrysalis I still have troubles visualizing how big most of these monsters are (except Anthony herself, Tiny a fair bit into the books, and Garralosh after a while), Anthony also feels like she stumbles into magic, somehow having the most dangerous spell seen while missing so many incredibly common sense spells (fire and earth mostly, but also only using some very efficient and deadly spells or combos only once) while going more for crowd control, another huge difference is in the presence of other characters and other perspectives, which elevates the novel significantly IMO.

Such a good 100 chapters, I love this story. A lot of other characters feature this time, I think we got more of other characters in these 100 chapters than all the previous chapters combined, while still also somehow featuring the MC nearly just as much as usual.
[spoiler]MC is finally using some dangerous magic more than once, even if it is only the basic flamethrower, I wanna see the water laser/regular+inv. grav bolts squash combo/gravity sphere/ice spear again, and possibly blue fire laser which I don't think Anthony has used yet. Really stressing out on that incoming abyssal legion attack that was talked about during the meeting of Morelia's parents, we have no idea of when this takes place, I feel like they should have talked about the abandoned legion fort in the ant attacked city if it was way after that, also the last the legion heard of the ant nest it was under Liria, which I think is quite a ways away from where the nest is now, although the expansion effort might have already taken the first expanse we saw under Liria.[/spoiler]
