Well, since this translation was recently finished, I thought I'd mention it here for those interested. It's a 1.00 patch, meaning it's a full game translation by now.

ahh Rance... not really my cup of tea. The gameplay is ... too confusing for me to comprehend lol, it's a nice game though.

here's a picture

Anyone gotten this to work? I installed it, and it works, i use the translation and i cant run it anymore, i get a Failed to read [ Rance7DLL.inc] error.

Korassu

Can't really blame you Kureha, for me the gameplay seems to drag out alittle to long for my tastes, but still it has one main route and 3 extra routes for your second playthrough, so its got nice replay value.

Theres a guide for the game, keep in mind the guide isnt completely accurate, and leaves out more then a few things(like for example not being able to get ranmaru's clear before turn 60), but it should help out anyone whos interested in playing it.

@Seipher: I got my copy from somewhere else, so i cant confirm weither this one works. But more then likely you should try uninstalling it, getting your computer on japanese locale(if you already havent), installing, and then installing the patch again. Also if your trying to start up a saved file that you made when you hadnt patched it yet, i dont believe the save files are compatiable.

Also heres a patch update thats supposed to make playing in the english locale alittle better(theres no link on the project page for it, just the update page), but even so you should probably still play on japanese locale.

I can't get the game to save data with or without the english patch--I'm running Vista and I think that's the problem.  Anyone know of a fix for this?

Thanks.

I was able to run this translation on Windows 7, so it shouldn't be a lot different from it. The thing is that I didn't use applocale and I had the Language for non-Unicode Programs set to Japanese.

Edit: When I wrote "run", I meant that I was able to fully play it, including loading and saving.

Korassu

im running vista and while once again i cant confirm the files posted work, i can tell you vista isnt the problem. I got it to work fine simply by setting it to japanese locale(restart), then installing, installing the patch, and boom it works great, i didnt even have to switch the compatibility or admin privledges.

Seipher

I set it to jap, restarted, installed, ran it and it works, installed patch and it gives that error now, so i have no clue whats wrong, someone posted on the patch page too but it got totally ignored by everyone :p im not sure what i can do heh

Mana

What's the name of the save files in your SaveData folder? If they are like this "戦国ランス_000.AS2″, you will have to change them to "Rance7_000.AS2″ or vice-versa. I posted about it when the patch 0.80 was released. If you already have saves, rename them with Renamer or Métamorphose to be quicker.

Seipher

No saves at all, i just ran it and let it go until it started some video then closed it and patched it, just ran it to make sure it worked before i patched :p savedata is empty

Mana

Then, when you installed the game, did you patch it to version 1.04 before applying the translation patch?

Seipher

I did on my 2nd attempt, my first was install, test, translation patch, 2nd time it was install, test, patch, translate, and both times it gives that DLL error once i install the translation

Korassu

if im not mistaken, the v1.00 translation patch includes the v1.04 patch. Im pretty sure its mentioned in the update or on the project page.

Seipher

Thats why the first time i didnt use the patch, i just used the translation, but both times it said about the DLL, i dont even see the DLL in the folder before or after i install the translation
