Muv-Luv Extra:
Shirogane Takeru is a typical high school student with a lazy attitude and a love for the virtual reality mecha battle game Valgern-on. I'm already playing it with that version, so it's working. First hour really had me laughing a lot.

Is there a english walkthrough for this game? I can't seem to find one online.

There's one when you install it with the amaterasu installer. Just check the installation folder.

For some reason, no matter what file I mount using Daemon Tools Lite, it won't recognize it as "Disc 2" when the prompt comes up. I used the torrent in the OP and am using the amaterasu installer. Anybody know what gives?  :-\

I think I had a similar problem with a different game at one time.  It seemed to be an error caused by going straight from one mount to the next like the game installer wasn't registering it as changing discs.  Try doing an eject on the file first then dismount it and mount the new file for the second disk.

Which option should i choose when installing the game? I tried it with the first option and it went right through, but i didn't have to do anything with the second disk.

I installed it using the installer from amaterasu. Just execute ml-r2m.exe before installing the game and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you already installed the game though, just use the patch and see if it works.

Something keeps going wrong and it doesn't work...The installer seems to install the game correctly, and after loading the first game on the drive the auto-start recognizes that that games been installed right, however every time i start the game it gives me the error "rugp.exe has encountered a problem and has to close". After i uninstall the patch and game, and reinstall from the img file, the game starts fine..However i cant seem to install the second part of the game that way..also if i already installed the game from the img, and try to patch it then, i get the same rugp.exe error as i was before...Im installing and trying to play the game with a Japanese environment, should i be on English instead?..

You obviously never looked at the file size of the torrent, both disc images are over 1gb, while kinda small for dvds, still bigger then cds.

btw, according to the read me for the patch, the game must be installed with the japanese locale, not applocale.

And thanks for the upload, i had no clue the patch was coming out.

Sorry I can't really tell what you're doing wrong, all I can say is how I installed it.
1.) Mount MUVLUV_EXTRA.ccd, ignore autostart
2.) Run ml-r2m.exe
3.) Follow the instructions
4.) When it asks you for Cd2, mount MUVLUV_UNLIMITED.ISO

Hope you can find that useful in any way. If not maybe try asking in amaterasu's release post ?

mcafee keeps blocking the exe. file for the installer, i dont get it... how do i install this game properly

had the same problem
1) daemon the .ccd file , but do not install it
2) open the patch, it should install the game (I used the one with extra)
3) when it asks for cd2 just daemon it in the same place as cd1

Alright, if anyone has had the same problem as i was experiencing, download this file, and replace rvmm.dll.

From reading the Readme it seems its completely translated, or atleast the routes they want you to, ive not played it very far though.

The readme indicated there is a yuuko-sensei route does that mean its not translated since it was not in the walkthrough? Also I noticed at the end of marimo route it was not translated so I'm guessing the teachers get less priority which is a shame.

This game has an enforced playing route so I believe you are forced to play Sumika's route first either way. Not sure who's route is next or if Sumika's the only enforced route.

I've actually played through every route so far apart sumika's, starting with Meya's route, so I don't think there's any forced order.

Or it's either Sumika/ Meya you gotta start with first.

ahh i can't wait for both unlimited and alternative (dying to play and understand this one, played it once using agth + TA (or to or whatever) + TA helper... can only understand bits, i am hopeless with kanji bah  :'(

Like I said, I started with Meya and not Sumika, and had no problems playing through every other girl neither so far. ( Still didn't start with Sumika's route ... such a violent girl q_q ).

I think the "enforced" part is only, that you need to clear Sumika AND Meya for Alternative access.


Well, it's not that terrible though. They've done extra in 3 months, that's a pretty terrific job! Just gotta hope they keep up da pace.

Yea, i got hooked with meiya, although her hair was kinda meh, sumika.. well she is cute and all, but too violent for me (although the main char was quite violent as well (hitting girls in the head often lol)  :P


Yep, they are super fast, from total lines.. extra is around 1/4 of total (extra + unlimit + alter), alternative is the one that have most of the lines.. so if they are working as fast as  this, we are looking around next year for full patch, finger crossed

Hmm how do you open the Extra menu? I beat Kei's and got the teachers and its still not unlocked, do i have to complete a specific one to unlock it?

I cleared almost all routes but Extra is not active. Provably need to clear all routes. Maybe you have to clear Unlimited

Not sure if it'll work for you but I had to completely switch my comp settings to Japanese. As long as it was still set for English it wouldn't pick up Disc 2, but once I had switched over it I was able to install flawlessly.

Normally I just use applocale+daemon with english settings but I've ran into several games that won't work for me unless I completely switch the system over to Japanese.

Figures, I usually use applocale too - even eject + dismount hadn't worked. This is the first time I've run into that sort of problem though. Thanks for the advice though  :P

There should be a MLE Walkthrough txt file in your installation directory that has a walkthrough for Extra.

yeah found it, tottaly missed that.... only thing I can say when im going through every route but Sumika's i get this damn feeling of guilt... which isent great, I think they could of laid off on just how much that girl has blatantly supported this guy all through his life, its not a childhood friend whos rectently come back after a long absence, its one whos been by the main character all the way through to the present and has loved him for a long time...

Then you have two choices: you learn Japanese, in case you don't know how, and read it that way or you wait for the English translation, like everyone else.

Ixrec is already working as fast as he can and the rest of Amaterasu aren't far behind him.

I seriously doubt you'd be able to learn japanese to a proper understanding where you can play the game faster than the game being translated for you =P

Geez age made me awe.
At first from playing Extra it made me WTF this is a crazy maniac illogical comedy game.
Then after patching unlimited..... God, it's awesomeeeee.
Below are some parts that I still don't understand though. DON'T HOVER IT OR YOU'LL SPOIL IT  :P
[spoiler]There are some parts I don't understand though, in unlimited tsukuyomi said that Takeru had already dead. Did the dead Takeru met Meiya in the childhood and had the promise just like in extra, because it would explain that see know the 'Say see you (mata ne) if you want to see someone again' in Meiya's ending.
Errr Mikoto in Extra is a girl or a boy?? I had suspicions from the extra how s/he(?) acted in extra is a girl.
Or will all of these be solved if I just play alternative??[/spoiler]
Now I can't wait for alternative to be translated after playing unlimited.

Extra, Unlimited (if that's what you are asking).

You can't unlock Unlimited until you have competed both the Sumika and Meiya routes in Extra.

Muv-Luv Alternative, which Amaterasu Translations is going to translate next apparently continues the story started in Unlimited.

aprently in alternative he shifts dimentions again, but this time its incredibly close to the unlimited with a few changes, but he has to start from scratch again, however this time he is a badass super mech pilot from the start and it feels more like your traditonal mech anime plot aprently

EDIT: also muv luv extra was just that, an extra when you compare it to the level of detail and better plot in unlimited its like a whole seprate game, although using the same characters..... im not gonna give any spoilers but the fact one of the main females is missing is nagging at me alot... although not so much since Ayamine is my fav character.... I always like the silent strong girls.... and the fact she has the largest bust is just a bonus :D

Theres not much difference in Sumika & Meiya route in the Extra path... Only difference is like one chapter which.. I think.. Could only be totaled up to a handful of pages if written down in a novel...

Actually Sumika isn't missing, she just ummmmm well you'll know it after playing alternative but you can guess from the near ending scenes in unlimited. Actually i haven't played alternative myself, gonna download it and play it raw. Oh yah if you are curious, you can troll somewhere for that info like in h*ngf*re like I did for checking whether my theory was right or not, apparently it was right.

Well all these games are connected so even the stupid extra has the the utmost element for alternative, and unlimited is like the basis for the next ~almost all serious~ sequel which is alternative.

id definately say Mikoto is a girl in extra, if i remember in sumika/meiya route on extra theres a bath scene where she trys incedibly hard to cover herself in certain places with a towl....

and yeah although Sumika aint techniquely missing, you get hints all the way through with the morning wake ups to say the least, its not the same character.... well not yet anyway will find out in alternative. Also judging from the flashbacks down the main route in unlimited does takaru end up with the class rep in the extra? (i mean cannon time line wise) becouse he seems to get a few flashbacks of having sex with her down the main route but never gets anything else like that for the others.

Well basicly in extra, Takeru ended up with almost all the girls. It's just like a memory flashback because of something-you-will-find-out from alternative, that's why he always had carefree attitude like whatever after flashbacks. Hint : Parallel world (well it's something everybody should've known from playing unlimited)

From what I know Alternative is one mind fuck apparently the MC couldn't accept the ending in Unlimited (Alternative V) so when he time slides back 3 years he dedicates himself to (Alternative IV) which gets everyone but 3 valkyries killed, it's a gory game where one of the girls is shown getting her head bit off. Anyway the ending is hardly happy. One of the reasons that I'm afraid to play this series. Sure, they defeat the Beta on earth but it's revealed that the whole space is infested with them.

i am still working on extra i hate chizuru's route it is so drawn out
i like tama's the best so far but i still have kei's route to finish in extra

Meh, overall the saga itself is very good. It's like seeing an object with different kind of POVs. You get the happy peace funny endings in extra, an epic heroic end in unlimited, and a mind boggling end in alternative. Well after these 3, there still a game with happy ending with all the characters (including new chara such as errrr should I tell this here, Meiya's twin sister) which is altered fable. Well yeah, all of these could happen because of parallel world, so be happy and enjoy it.

mikoto was raised as a boy in the world of extra for some unexplained reason
but in unlimited she was raised as a girl to keep her out of war as soon as possible
i just wish she would have been winnable in extra

Engine isn't fully hacked\or some other problem... Currently it's impossible to replace videos with subbed ones.

just finished playing it. really enjoyed the game, but as everybody said the endings for unlimited was reaaallyyyyyy! disappointing compared to the way story was going.

But  looking at the CG for alternative i felt as if it only improvise on the ending with sumika(unit 00) and rest are just part of the story, with some new characters.or is it the Altered Fable that has more endings with more girls.

I finally get the time to install and low and behold an error.

Mount the unlimted ISO and get a disc with one file a .rio.002 file.

Tried changing my system to japanese instead of applocale and still error.
Tried using the R6 installer and it asks for disk 2 and it doesn't recognize it

Ixrec already translated more than half of the first patch for Muv-Luv Alternative. It's highly probable that we see the patch for it yet this month.

As far as I know, there are 3 Arcs and the translation patch will released per arc.
So I wonder, if I should wait for the complete patch which translates everything or play one arc then wait a month or two for the next patch which translates the next arc.

Any idea if this game works on Windows 7 64-bit? ... This is what I did:

I ran ml-r6.exe (I see no ml-r2-whatever anywhere) and it asked me to load disc one, so I loaded Muvluv_extras then it asked me to load 2nd disc, I mounted Muvluv_unlimited and then it installed it. It did warn me that it needs the game from 2004 or whatever but I hit to install it anyways. The game I downloaded is the one from the torrent provided on the first post. When I launch the game after installation, it is NOT working. It tells me the game is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your blah blah blah blah.

I don't know, what I did when I was installing this game, as it's been a while and I already deleted it again, but it definetly works on Windows 7 64bit.

Tried changing system language? Tried AppLocale? Tried Compability Mode? (although I'm sure I didn't need the last)

I have it on Japanese Unicode so that's no problem (I play other VNs). What is AppLocale? I never heard of it. That kinda sucks. I wish it was as simple as install and done.

AppLocale is a piece of software which changes the system region for a programm you execute. It's pretty neat if you don't want to change the region of your whole system.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for Vista...

On the other hand, I just remembered I didn't finish this VN... on the other hand, the manga's last chapter was released properly yesterday so... what can I say... I really don't feel like playing it a hundred times?  Or something like that.

Apploc works fine for vista, you just have to install it via an elevated cmd prompt. For example...

Drop the installer into D:/
Navigate to the cmd prompt launcher and right click "Run as Administrator"
type D:
type the name of the installer, it'll install on vista now.

Oh Vista.

Should switch over to Windows 7, not sure if they fixed that 'thing' that tricks microsoft genuine into thinking DL copies are real.

I've changed locales and finished this Vn. Although many people are saying that Extra is better I like  Unlimited part more. Takeru is more mature in Unlimited part of game and while Extra is good it is still common high school romance. For me only major flaws are lack of Marimo-chan's and Yuuko-sensei routes and their endings as those weren't very good.

Actually, most people prefer Unlimited to Extra given that's when things get serious.

when i tried installing the game my anti virus blocked it saying that a file named マブラヴ11.exe was a trojan virus, did anyone else have this issue, is it something i need to worry about or do i just tell my anti virus to ignore it?

Really? I've read quite large amount of comments saying that Extra is better because it's more humoristic and there is Sumika(I don't know why so much people like her).
Regardless even if those parts are good I doubt that I will play in Alternative. I've heard that there is only one ending and one ending isn't enough for Vn of such lenght also there is a fact that this ending is with Sumika(I think) who isn't my favourite character to say the least. Then again it isn't discussion about Alternative so I will stop here.
