(VNDB's)The story begins with the protagonist, Kogasaka You, moving back to his hometown, which he left behind several years ago. More stuff to add to the backlog. Dammit!
It's out already? How did they edit 24 scripts in a week I wonder?
By having a good translation to base themselves on, I suppose, and dedication.. probably. Though, their editor left the team and then the translator by himself had to do most of the editing job.
Well, I did spot a few grammar errors while playing so far, but nothing major and the text seems just fine. Minus one problem is being the text going over the box a few times and having to check it through the log.
Thanks for sharing!
Another one for the growing queue of games waiting to be played :)
part 9 missing from the mediafire list
Opsie, uploading.
Part 9 has been uploaded.
thanks for uploading :)
May i ask if thrs alr an english walkthrough?
OP updated with walkthrough.
Thank you for the walktrough, but i have a problem, the game start good, but when i shall load a game i get a error Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a shooting star har stopet å virke, how can i fix this?
Game crashing without any reason, hmm, I don't really know. Did you apply the official fix before patching?
Yes i did that.
a warning:the team did a prank and replaced Mare's CGs with...dolphins when you install the patch,You gotta remove two files after installing so that things go back to normal,but I forgot which files were...
Apparently all you've got to delete is the "graph_vis" folder at %AppData%\..\Local\VirtualStore\\CROSSNET\memoria\graph_vis
Folder is empty for me here. Mine was located where I installed the game by default.
-> C:\Program Files (x86)\(CROSSNET)\memoria
Well, it worked.
5 minutes in and I already want to kill Chinami.
Chinami might be the most annoying character. However her route is actually quite important as it gives readers all the necessary background information of what has happened in the past as it is important in the final route. The back story is pretty decent and certainly overwhelm Chinami's own story.
//PS: the captcha is almost impossible to read
Hmm, I didn't find her annoying at all personally, though I agree with what Flash said about her route.
The captcha is.. yeah, it was quite annoying lol.
Anyone else get an error when they start? It goes through the sunset text (untranslated) and as soon as it gets to the night time porch i get some ... graph_bs/CHR error. Anyone know how to fix that? I get it wether i apply 1.1 patch or the translation.
This text is supposed to be translated, make sure you applied the translation patch at the right place if you didn't install the game at the default installation place (C:\Program Files (x86)\CROSSNET\memoria). Same goes for the Official Fix.
I can't really see any other reason though. Try deactivating some of the effects (or all) in the options too, your graphic card might not support one or another.. doubt that though.
I tried leaving it to install default and still getting the same error. turned off all the settings, turn them all on, it still crashes at that one spot.

The only lead I have is the English Patch's Readme :
Q: Why does the game crash sometimes with a message about "graph" or something?
You do not have the official Favorite Bugfix patch applied. You can acquire this from Favorite's website separately: http://www.favo-soft.com/soft/patch/Memoria_update_v11.zip (http://www.favo-soft.com/soft/patch/Memoria_update_v11.zip)
You did apply the Official Fix first, then the English patch. Pretty sure you did that though.. so I don't see what the problem is at all. @@
I think i applied the fix, it gives me 2-3 boxes of characters i cant understand so im GUESSING it worked :p
*EDIT* Ya i guess it helps if i use the non japanese exe file ... it goes past that part when i use the right one lol
hmmm i get to the OP movie and right after it plays i cant do anything and my screen is black............also it opens the movie in another window what in the hell is going on granted if i just remove the vid the game continues but its still annoying to deal w
@Seipher,
There you go, have a nice read.
@eskimo bill
Not sure why it is like that, I'm guessing the translation team was forced to use a way to shows up a subbed video instead of directly replacing it.. meh. I didn't have any trouble with it though, it started and I watched, ended and continued without problem. Also could skip the movie by pressing Esc quickly.
wow, didn't expect this to come out so fast XD
thank you!
i must say this vn is great so fari haven't laughed this much since edelweiss
Thank you :)
great vn, main story is quite sad for me
No problem, the VN is good indeed. The only thing I can think badly of it is how repetitive it can get untill you finally start on to a new route and.. well, not the game's fault, but also mostly near the endings where the team obviously didn't seem to force themselves much as a few lines are left untranslated (at least, those lines are ones that you've already heard/read before or of only one character (e.g. え > Eh?.) and where grammar errors become more common.
Also, seem like the Team will be picking up Dracu-Riot! (http://vndb.org/v8213) as their next project if they manage to hack through it.

Bug? D:
No, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be like that for that one. Though I did get the characters positioned oddly alots of times.. (half off the screen, or could only see their arm coming from the side of the screen, etc) Didn't really bother me though.
Thanks for the fast response, it doesn't bother me too but oh well just checking XD

That's weird, I already play all the routes and never see this kind of problem =o
Odd, can't really say anything else about it. lol. Too lazy to look into it right now anyway.
I don't recall seeing bugs like that: but it has been almost 1/2 a year since I read this VN... I still have its OST on my playlist.
Asuho's route is pretty plain. It is just what I would expect from a regular VN. It was my first route and was good enough to keep me entertained.
Kosame's character is quite adorable. As Komomo's is a prerequisite I expected a lot of overlapping of stories but Kosame is able to develop the plot further.
Isuzu imo has the weakest route. Unlike Chinami she did not have an exceptionally strong sideplot to keep me reading.
Yume's route - if played by itself - imo can be a pretty weak route. However it is able to outshine the others because i) it is well anticipated ii) it ties in with some of the other routes. The "start" where Asuho confessed, revealing Yume's name and awakening lost memories... the long awaited meeting... fate and Mare's intervention were rather touching and together weave a very powerful route.
A year later I still do not know if I can digest Mare's route: she is just a little too young. At the same time, all the time spent with her and watching her develop over the course of all the routes built up a lot of emotional attachment to the character.
wondering if anyone encounter this bug...
the custom font tend to disappear from the list after the pc reboot (game reopen doesn't fix this)
the only solution i have is to reinstall the english patch everytime i reboot the pc, after that all proceed normally even i close the game
Well, I'll be the first one to "state" that it isn't happening here no matter how many times I reboot. The font stay no matter what.
Thanks anyhow.
Hmm anyone else have a trouble with the skipping, just skipping everything instead of what you've read, no matter which option you have marked?
Same thing was happening here, 'twas rather annoying.
Wonder if they will fix it, wonder if its just a simple fix or something more complex.
Hmm anyone else have a trouble with the skipping, just skipping everything instead of what you've read, no matter which option you have marked?
I think it's an engine problem? It does work for the new Yume scenes throughout the main portion of the game that pop up with each ending you accumulated. Also it works for Yume route also.
My advice is just skip to the part where Komomo joins Tenkuru, the next scene should be the new route.
I finally finished the game. Just want to comment a few things about the game.
Overall, it was a pretty good VN, definitely recommend. Story is pretty enjoyable, there are a lot of intriguing elements that keeps you pushing forward. There are a lot of humor and most of the characters are pretty unique and fun.
While I am not really complaining the hard work that the fansubbers for this VN, it's obvious that there are certain parts that are very poorly edited(or none at all). Most of the problems, you would find in the Chinami route. The likability of the Chinami route aside, I can sense that nobody wanted to edit/proofread it(incest contents probably). I almost jumped out of my seat when there was a line that said something like "Mum loved Chinami's dad's cock". And no, it wasn't a H-scene. Base on the context, the translator just wanted to say "Mum loved Chinami's dad", pretty big difference if you ask me. At that point, I really questioned if the rest of the translation was literally an April's Fool's joke. Luckily, that wasn't the case since I was really looking forward to the Mystery Girl/Me-a(Mare) routes. Overall, even with all the hiccups, majority of the translations are great and the glitches are almost always interpretable.
Hmm to anyone having the movie OP prob i think u have to install the direct X When u first open the installer with daemon tools OR opt not to download the subbed OP when using english patch. (Or do both of them)
I'm pretty sure the skipping problem is with the Engine itself too.
@nebbie
I looked around a little bit and it seems the Translator didn't bother editing the 10 last scripts, also since their editor left the team.. doesn't help (3-Men Team, well, 2 now). They did a good job overall at least.
Ah so Komomo joining is the end of the common route? That will help alot, thanks.
Ah so Komomo joining is the end of the common route? That will help alot, thanks.
Ya, I just skip to there with new decisions to trigger other routes. Again, new Mystery girl scenes will automatically stop the skipping, as far as I know those are the only new scenes that occurs in the common route. They are really short anyways, their purpose is so you will pursue the true ending.
Oh, let me mention that if you do somehow skipped too far, the auto save feature of the game should have a save at the start of the character route. For most part, this autosave feature was annoying since it was overwriting my saves. But a few times, I've used it to revert back a few scenes. There might be an option to turn it off, but option descriptions weren't clear and I wasn't keen enough to fix it.
On another note, does anybody know why voices don't play during the recollection? Is there an option I'm missing?
5 minutes in and I already want to kill Chinami.
Just my words! Damn she is annoying
The first hour of the game have been a pain because of her.. Will her role be as dominant in the rest of the game?
If so, then i might aswell top playing allready
Chinami is kind of the main source of comic relief in the story. She never goes away completely, but she gets less pronounced when you reach a specific girl's route...
except for her's and Isuzu's for obvious reasons.
I had my doubts as well during the whole moving scene at the beginning as well, but the jokes involving her get much better. The beginning was simply a Chinami overload.
Ahh, sounds good
I will give it a try then
Worth noting that new patch appears to break anti-censoring mechanism by recreating the folder with censorship on every start of the game. I would avoid upgrading until it's sorted out.
If that happens, all you have to do is put the game in window mode and delete the graph_vis folder each time you start up the game.

The english patch removes the censors?
Rather, it adds them.
finally finished the game... enjoyed every route available except for mare's route where i feel too short and unsatisfied ending compare to others
The english patch removes the censors?
The english patch adds censoring to the game, by making one character's sex scenes into pictures of dolphins. In 1.0, removing the directory talked about above once was enough to remove all censorship.
In 1.1 update, it creates this directory on every start up of the game, meaning deleting it once (or any time before game is run) is no longer enough.
finally finished the game... enjoyed every route available except for mare's route where i feel too short and unsatisfied ending compare to others
Yeah, poor Mare doesn't even get her own unique ending cg like everyone else.
Thought somehow they removed the censoring of the CGs.
Mare gets 1/2 a fandisk to herself. Curious if they will translate the fandisk (thought its not as good imo).
Knowing about Mare's story makes me feel "wrong" doing anything to her...

It's doubtful since very few groups do fandisks and given how they are insistent with the Mare censorship, they probably aren't too incline to translate it.
They threw those dolphin pics in because it was an April Fool's joke and not because they were inclined towards censorship of the material. Anyway, I doubt they'll do the fandisk any time soon. The translator said that he was sick of the project and that's why he released it early despite the lack of editing. I suspect the main reason, though, was to release the translation on April Fool's day for the subsequent lulz.

just curious if the fandisk is a side stories or improvised version with new route of this game ?

You can read this review here, that gives you an idea what the fandisk consists of(spoiler alert if you haven't finished wish upon a shooting star):
http://www.reikon.org/2010/02/04/hoshizora-no-memoria-eternal-heart-review/
Fandisk (I play it half a year ago so memory is a little vague):
Its a continuation. It contains two main stories: one for Yume and one for Mare.
Kosame's pretty much a redo of her arc: this time there is an eclipse so she is worried about her body again... Tbh is not that good (Kosame is a character I love the most outside her own story).
Out of all the side stories I like Komomo's the best. Its about her trying to get on first name basis with You (rmb that Komomo doesn't like her cute name). The route started off with Kosame teased the two about them being too loud during their "private time"...
Yume's was about the two of them spending time together and You trying to find the meteor that contained Mare. All the "community, family and friends work together" happened but the search ended in a failure. Predictably You refuses to give up. At the end magic happens ("all you had to do is ask mommy for help") and the dragon thing guides You to Mare's fragment before You freeze to death. Story wise it was pretty plain and I feel that the "finding Mare" quest overshadowed Yume's existence.
Mare's story starts off with the two of them spending time together doing stuff everywhere (there are parts of it that I do not like because it breaks canon). The plot focus heavily on the side characters (the photography club president and his sister). It develops the side story involving the temple and extermination of spirits.
thanks for the info, may give it a try after clearing other games
Just finished komomos route in this one, and i enjoyed it pretty well. I think i will do the twins route also
I have no interest in chinami route, asuho route or isuzu route, mainly because they feel way too young. I do however want to see who this mysterious girl is, but will skipping those nessasary routes make me loose out too much?
Ohh, and is there any chance someone can upload a complete savegame? Or at least with those 5 routes done :)
Since you did Komomo's route, you can do Kosame's, which was my favourite overall. The mysterious girl route is pretty much the true route of the game, so if you're the kind of person that likes true routes, then go for it. It also wraps up some of the points that were left open if you did other routes like Chinami's or Isuzu's, but you'll only get a feel for that if you went through the other paths. I'd recommend going through the other routes first and just skipping through the h-scenes if that's the problem.

If you are so inclined, here:
http://g-seeker.net/game/h/memoria.html
As much as I hate to say it, you do lose a big chunk of the story skipping Chinami route. I don't think Isuzu brings that much actually, neither does Kosami once you've done Komomo but I thought Kosami was good.
Thanks guys
Perhaps i should do Chinami route, but i really find her plainly annoying so i really wouldnt enjoy it at all. Skipping the h-scenes with her and Isuzu is a solution, but id prefer i could just delete the damn scenes totally. Kids like them really isnt my cup of tea
You'll have to do Isuzu's route to unlock Chinami's route, but, if it makes you feel any better, Chinami's route is pretty short. It's something like 60% as long as Komomo's route. Isuzu's, on the other hand, is one of the longer ones.
dang.. ver 1.1 ENG patch omake (mare cg one) really make me :facepalm:
also, anyone could kind enough to explain latter part of yume route?
kinda confused on the ending.
after Mea/ Mare reaped You memories the second time & full fill her promise,
suddenly the scene skip to You's graduation how suddenly Yume willing to meet You again? and what about her sickness?? then You regretfully reminiscence about how Mare gone, and somehow meet her mum again..then what? TIME LOOP to after You cry in Yume embrace scene??
and what the relation with sending Mea with curing yume sickness?
truthfully Yume route is the one i wait most,
but somehow..
well at least the ending song touching & it ended happily..
my fav route is Kosame, Komomo, and dunno why, Chinami >.<;
kinda expecting isuzu but somehow felt just not that interested. so as asuho..
English Patch V1.2 Released.
OP Updated, Download here (http://www.mediafire.com/?v9eusbz04v1p20c).
Changelog:
- script improvements (~1000)
- includes font separately
- no more cute sea mammals :sadfrog:
@SilverRegret
Don't forget that You's mother made him time-travel back, that's probably why you're confused.
@SilverRegret
That's why I don't like Yume's route, she broke his heart and make him forget about his love completely .....fast forward...
years passed.. the MC has moved on and then BAM she jump back into his life again!!!... I was like "I thought you want him to forget about you!!! I'm start to think that you broke his heart just for kicks. make up your damn mind b#$@^ " >:(
and the space magic.... err..I mean mom's magic... in term of story and writing it's just plain sucks...
I like Komomo and Kosame the most . Asuho's route is still ok but Aoi and Chinami's route are meh.
Asuho's route is pretty normal, but AFAIK this is the only English translated game that offer a real deredere character, it's very sweet.
Anyone here wants a short route or h-scene for Shino-san? Well, there's already incest in it why won't they throw some more? I myself would really want a nice and kind aunt like that. :)
@ Ignus
hmm, dunno what on Yume's mind when she broke You heart twice, but at least i think her feeling is genuine. im quite touched with the first time yume comforting You scene..
its just that..somehow they really pushed latter half & yume arc ending >.<;
really felt it was forced.
i think it'll felt more natural if they put it simply by curing Yume by time (waiting patiently is a commendable deed) /miracle of love (yea i know that's clitche ==;)
and maybe put the end of Yume arc by showing yume pict smiling gently by her hospital bed,
saying tadaima, you-kun (showing she's healed) ^^;
save the distant future the family happy ending as a true route maybe?
well at least it end happily & the ending song is pretty ^^;
yea i very much agree with you on kosame & komomo route (esp kosame one, i really enjoyed her route) as for aoi route..think they could improve it more, for chinami route..well set aside she's a walking speaker ^^; im quite sympathized with her circumstance if u read latter half of aoi route, combined with chinami's herself.. (dunno maybe i got a soft heart for imouto type). for asuho.. well im dont really fond of her..dunno why.
Quick question please.
Is Chinami a really blood related sister of him?
I hate the standard "go back to hometown, meet childhood friend and get laid" story,
but I may rethink it if there's real incest.
Ha ha.
@ lolineko
Yes, she's his half sister. They have the same mother, but different fathers.
Completed the true route now, while skipping those routes i didnt like (as mentioned earlier: Chinami and the blue haired one)
Didnt really feel like i missed out on anything special, so i can recommend this if there are others around here who dont have any interest in those two kid routes
Hey...
Can anyone help me here...
You need to mount Hoshizora ISO and then click launch.exe right??
But...When i click the launch.exe, i always get a warning like this
(http://i.imgur.com/uzJjp.jpg)
Is there anything i forgot to do or what??
Put your computer on Japanese Locale, most jp installations requires to do so to ensure nothing screw up. If that doesn't work, try simply running Setup instead.
Don't remember getting that error though, I mounted and it auto-runned, and hop install.
Okay...
Done all..The Memoria Update 1.1 and Eng patch till 1.2....
But I still can't start the game...
When i launch Memoria...It always say "C:\users\"myname"\documents/FAVORITE/????????/save/s901.bin and some other weird signs"
What does that mean?
Are you trying to play the game from the mounted ISO? That's not possible. Start by clicking that Setup and installing the game. Remove all the patches you've already installed before that.
The two rar files confuse me (Memoria update_11 and English patch update 1.2) I mean how do i install them extract the files to the game folder or something? And the full patch gives me 2-3 pop up boxes, does that mean its installed?
1) Extract " Memoria_update_v11.zip " anywhere, open the folders until you find "patch.exe" and run it.
- This will officialy update the game to "v1.1" to fix bugs & such.
* Install process (http://i.imgur.com/X2Xr8.png).
2) Start " hoshimemo_full_english_patch_1_0.exe " & install to game folder (default : C:\Program Files (x86)\CROSSNET\Memoria)
- This will patch the game to english and will most-likely only work properly if the above update was applied..
* Install process (http://i.imgur.com/DivGu.png).
3) Extract " Hoshimemo_english_patch_update_1_2.rar " to game folder & overwrite everything.
- This will update the english patch to "v1.2" with fixed scripts, etc and will only work properly if the above patch was applied.
= Optionally install the font that comes with it (Staircase Subs Custom.ttf), unsure whether or not it's an updated version.
* Install process (http://i.imgur.com/l0SQR.png).
4) Play
- Have your life eaten away.
(Yup, I'm bored)
Hello, Can I Have THe Installation Guide Please??? When I Click The Setup.exe, it said " error reading initialization file" please help..I really want to play this VN..
1) Set your PC to be in Japanese Locale. You can always try AppLocale, but I personally don't recommend it.
- This is actually a pretty important step to do, as not abiding to it COULD screw-up the entire installation, even if it the installer says everything went fine.
2) Mount the ISO/CUE/etc in Daemon Tools or Burn it on a CD/DVD with ImgBurn and mount it in (one of) your PC's CD/DVD-ROM(s).
- Either way doesn't matter. Having the original disc is always the best option, of course, but it shouldn't really change anything even then.
3) Here's the rest in images, instructions included: http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/7937/sanstitreaud.png
- If you see gibberish instead of japanese, that means you aren't in Japanese Locale or AppLocale ain't working.
I realize this might not fix your error, in which case I have no idea what you are doing wrong.
Worst case scenario, the ISO you downloaded is corrupted for one reason or another, and if you downloaded mine make sure you used 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) to extract.
(I was bored, once again.)
