Hyouka (氷菓) is a novel written by Honobu Yonezawa and serialized in Kadokawa Shoten. It constitutes the first installment in the "Classics Club Series" (〈古典部〉シリーズ), which currently has 5 volumes. The anime aired from April 22, 2012 to September 16, 2012 with 22 episodes in total. There is an ongoing manga written by the original author and illustrated by Task Ohna.

Story Synopsis
Oreki Houtarou is a self-proclaimed "energy-saver"—that is, he refuses to actively waste energy doing things that aren't necessary. Though he had no interest whatsoever in participating in any clubs upon entering Kamiyama High School, he was commanded by his older sister, Tomoe, to join the club she was once a part of, the Classics Club, as it was in danger of being abolished due to its nonexistent member count. Together with his old friends Fukube Satoshi and Ibara Mayaka, as well as with the elegantly ladylike and curiously inquisitive Chitanda Eru, the newly reformed Classics Club ends up finding themselves involved in all sorts of mystery-solving escapades. Houtarou quickly learns that life in the Classics Club, just as Tomoe had promised, would be an interesting one indeed.

And so begins the "Classics Club Series".

Adapted into an anime series by Kyoto Animation in 2012 under the title "Hyouka".

apparently manlyflower is still half way done from translating volume 6. :3

i really wont call it halfway. volume 6 is already completed save for one story. that particular story was already translated by someone called mayakyaa (long before volume 6 was officially released)whom he got permission from to borrow her translation as a temporary measure to fill the gap made by the untranslated short story.(i should know cuz im one of it's editors).currently, he's translating the short story in question at his own pace. there are other sites(iirc) that's already hosted a completed copy of volume six. welp. hope that helps

err, does this light novel still alive? seems like the status in COO still ongoing but its from ages ago

oh and, there seems to be no illustration. what a rare light novel (at least for me)

Word light of light novel come from the number of page that lighter than normal novel

It may unusual for unillustrated LN, but not that rare moreover for hyouka's genre which is mistery

I also think that the author's slow in writing, but the work is worth for the wait

It was originally a novel and then it changed "magazine" and kinda turned into a LN without illustrations, without the change in magazine there probably wouldn't even have existed an anime of Hyouka, and the author isn't only working on this LN(even though he's pretty lazy IMO). Just like the guy up said, it's worth the wait, it gets better and better with each volume.

well, if its mystery, i watch it instead of read it, so that might be why i didn't know that mystery usually unillustrated.

Though the author confirmed a 7th novel is being written back in twitter 2018, only 6 has released so far.
