The Ghost in the Shell: Five New Short Stories was a prose anthology originally published in Japanese then translated to English and printed by Vertical Inc. in 2017. The anthology was released to coincide with the release of the Hollywood movie, although the stories themselves were not set in the movie universe.
The anthology was marketed as showcasing works of some of Japan's top sci-fi writers. One of them by Tow Ubukata, the lead writer for Ghost in the Shell Arise.
