I found this one to be consistently very good. It was not my usual cup of tea, but does a good job building up its world lore, and while I wouldn't say its exactly thrilling as a "mystery" series, it does have an intriguing mix of mystery, horror, and detective elements. It also does a good job of not feeling like a "chinese" novel. While I didn't always find it riveting in the early volumes, I kept coming back to it as the other novels I was reading were just worse. Furthermore, this one has steadily been rising in my estimation, and is now among my favorite and most anticipated ongoing novel translations as of vol 8.

For similar quality stuff (also with apocalyptic setting, varied powers) I can recommend couple new ones - Sowrd of Dawn and The First Order. I don't think anybody is TLing the former, but the latter you can find at webnovel.com.

Thank you! I just finished reading The Unwanted Undead (Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha) and wasn't sure what I wanted to dive into next yet, so perfect timing.
This is by far the best Chinese novel currently out there that is still ongoing and just getting better and getting more hype around it!
The latest chapter on webnovel is 991, and Aizen does volume/packs of each 100 chapters, v9 being up till Chapter 900. So expect v10 soon'ish as webnovel hits 1000 ;)

This just in good novels are good.
This one is one of my favorite novel out there. I even read the machine translated one due to catching up to the translated version :) :). The story is really great. It does not have the overuse vibes of isekai.
It's got this very dark vibe in it similar to Berserk.
That eclipse sacrifice by griffith, i can easily imagine that ritual happening in this story.

I reckon some volumes deserve a v2 with replacing the fucked up titles of chapters (those that have quotes that appear badly written instead of " with QUOT'TITLE'QUOT or something like that) and maybe even those *'s that need to make the text
like this and instead appear as *'s at the start of where it should start and at the end ;)
Knowing you, u will definitely do that at some point hehe, Lord of the mysteries deserves perfect pdf's ;)
P.s. - ur reading speed is crazy. im currently on Chapter 429 and i read like 100~ pages from ur pdf's a day

1. I still think you are a mad-man for the SPEED at which you read stuff... sheesh, i have a lot of time on my hands and i read at least 10-15 Chapters a day (I don't rush and read em while enjoying at a rather good pace?) but you... the speed at which you read stuff is just mind-blowing to me lol
2. After u finish with ur nuts speed of reading everything out u even read RAWS(Mtl's)... lol dude, u are on another level :P
But yeah, i am currently on chapter 730 ENOYING THE HELL OUT OF IT! and i knew it was ongoing at China at over 1360 chapters, but i always imagined it will keep going for another 1000 or 2000 chapters from my current progress and the endless possibilities... so i was honestly SHOCKED to see u write that it's finally 'over' at 1394 Chapters.
But then seeing you write that this was all just "Book 1" and that there will be a sequel or more got my hopes up :) also as it is at 1,186 Chapters on webnovel, i guess 1 more week till u do another .pdf for it , which will be the 3rd to last with 2 more after that (I mean, 20+ chapters a week on the official translation is pretty bad ass... i reckon until i catch up, it will be over and i can read smoothly till the end and not wait)

The ending is too much cliffhanger. It makes you cringe to get the book 2 ;D ;D ;D . Wish the author could start it already but it was mentioned that book 2 will be release by next year. So far, its my number 1 Chinese novel.

Volume 12 was also great. Lots of big revelations, and climatic battles. It feels like events are happening at an almost frenetic pace compared to earlier volumes as we approach the climax and conclusion of the first book. I didn't necessarily love the part with [spoiler]Klein and his... acquaintance "journeying" together[/spoiler], but that was probably due to the deliberate tension and relative impotence being conveyed. So in that regards it worked as intended.
My favorite character is probably[spoiler] Arrodes[/spoiler]. Every time he talks to someone other than Klein its pure gold.
I used the spoiler tag lest someone feel they got inadvertently spoiled about something, but I've kept the spoiler text vague for those with weak willpower too.
Fuck that was a tense ~100 chapters, ~50 of those were read in basically one sitting over several hours because I couldn't stop reading (which might be bad because I was supposed to work...).

The pace will get faster and faster as the climax approches, especially when Klein finally becomes "The Fool". According to the author, he didn't want to insult the intelligence of the characters, they won't give klein time to stabilize.

That was great! and now back to waiting! I'm soooo happy this has such an amazing release rate, otherwise I would go crazy waiting.
I like the new cover art choice even if its perhaps a bit generic anime. The old one had a unique style, and a bit of a steampunk vibe, but didn't really convey anything about the novel. The new one at least depicts Klein and has a few subtle and not spoileriy nods to the story and other characters.

Oddly, the 4th epub didn't have any.
Found them easier by searching the odd use of alpha "α" that the person putting them in was using.
Not sure if there are other's that I missed, but many of those are sometimes only seen once. While others happen 2-5 times through the epub.
I removed them on the ones I'm using using Calibri epub editor and using the "Find and Replace" option to replace those with nothing.
Fixed my problem, but again just noting for those like me that would like it a bit cleaner and not have odd jibberish in what they're reading (obviously an odd way of putting in the location of the original hoster of the novel, be it just a host site that just added it in, or the actual translators).
Only have read the first epub all the way through and am in the 2nd. So the findings in the 2nd, 3rd and (lack of findings in the) 4th epubs were found through searching for that "α" symbol.
Yeah, I only noticed that when I was doing the 4th volume. I was planning to clean vols 1~3 when i pack them along with vol.5

Doing a search, it is found 5 times through the 2nd epub and doesn't show up in any of the other 3.
Sorry for one more post on this subject.
This however isn't to point out advertisement to sites or extra lines like the last post.
Instead, it has to do with characters (not people but letters) not showing up/formating properly.
I've checked in 3 different epub readers and each have shown things like
H?tel and Fran?ois (just some examples).
You can obviously tell that this is supposed to be Hotel and Francois (though most likely an accent over the ?'d letters).
However I'm guessing that whichever epub creator you are using for this one for some reason isn't able to process the special characters and just dumping out ?'s instead.....
Thought it was the reader on my phone's fault (though it's not done that for other novels). But checked using a plugin epub reader on Firefox as well as using the Calibri epub editor software and they all show up the same. So guessing it's a problem with the epub itself.
Those two examples are just the ones off the top of my head and haven't done a thorough search like with the advertisement/site stuff.

And those '?' are from the aggregator sites i get the chapters from, they fail to copy those properly, i guess.
