the problem i have with games like these is.... i dont enjoy the gameplay, the only game that i have so far is galaxy angel... and only becouse of the homeworld style combat.... although if you compare it to homeworld its poor... and if you compare to homeworld 2 well........ yeah out of the water sunk, but it was still fun
is this one of those awfull grindy JRPG combat with square where you have to many units to mange and the diffculty has a learning curve only described as OVERHANGING CLIFF!

If you are leaving it to luck for a Gundam to dodge enemies attacks, you are doing it wrong. If the mecha sucks, you compensate with the pilot's skills and, if you are using a super robot, you don't need to dodge.
Getting on topic, I didn't even bother to download the demo. I'll wait for it's eventual release and even then, it'll take me a long time to finally play it.

The first release date was in april and since then they just pust to a later date :( No problem with the waiting part just i would really like a really date from mangagamer witch is accurate. As for character corruption, I think MG has done a pretty good job on not censoring stuff, except in higurashi when they couldn't get licenses on some music tracks. Story content itself has usually stayed true to it's original. I mean we haven't seen the butchering Jast does with stuff.

lol, I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I was talking about corrupting the Three Kingdoms' characters. I usually expect a good work from MG, even if it has room for improvements.
All in all i still expect Koihime Musou to be entertaining.

Took me - I think - about one or two hours or so at the first playthrough.
Maybe I'm a slow reader, don't know, or I was just taking my sweet time figuring out how the battle system works.
The second playthrough - I like the battle system, although it's far to easy in the start (hope it get's much harder later) - just took me 10 minutes or so - only battles, just skipped the text.

I tried it in the battle where you have 5k Soldiers and the enemy 25k
After I lost every soldier i got the question to try it again.
By clicking yes I got 1.5k additional soldiers.
By clicking no I was sent back to the Title Screen.
I think I didn't even get a Game Over screen.

More uninformed posts about the lack of voices... MangaGamer didn't have a choice on the matter. It was a decision made by Nexton, one of it's parent companies a.k.a. the people who call the shots, due to the number of seiyuu that worked on this title. The amount that they would get in royalties wouldn't leave much of a profit given the usual number of sales that MG titles have, and so, they will only make a deal with the seiyuu companies when MG proves them that they can make a profit with this title.

did you extract all the files from koihimemusou_2_of_2.zip into the same folder as the koihimemusou_1_of_2.zip? I think the default folder is "Koihime_Musou" or just make that folder and extract both those files into it.

That said, the lack of voices was actually a bigger deal than I thought since it makes what might really be a big name (for a VN) title feel really...
budget. I bought it anyway though, but I'll download the fuck out of the voice patch when it's ready :p
I did and it was fine. But 30mins-1hour vs 50+ is significantly different. And after playing a couple hours knowing what i'm missing it irked me too much. I'd play the jap version, but unfortunately doesn't work on win 7 x64.
Anyway if anon can have a voice patch done in three days I might as well hold out playing it. In any case they'll probably complete it significantly faster than sales reaching 2000+.

It seems like the scripts are done and now we have to wait for the original guy to compile and test it. I expect tweaks to fix any errors, since he did say that originally he got about 80% working on his fixes before the anons worked on the scripts. glad to see the anons working fast on this voice patch :)

Right click when in battle and you can see what formations do what and beat what. It's just like rock paper scissors. Also the battles are scripted therefore never change so if you know what they're going to do it's incredibly easy, even if you don't you should catch on after the first few turns.
If they are this lost, I wonder what would happen if they played a Romance of the Three Kingdoms title.
I'll have to rephrase what I'm trying to say, since people seem to have missed it twice.
The "Rock-Paper-Scissors" only kind of makes sense, since you also apparently have to pick the right units (light, heavy, or archers) to use while in the formation.
I was fighting against Ganryou and Bunchou (I think. It was the Enshou generals) and I'd pick the correct counterpick to their current formation, but rushing in light or heavy (what was supposedly +defense or +attack in the counterpick) kept getting me 1:1 casualty ratios, i.e. I'd lose like 500 and they'd lose 500. This was terrible because they had like twice my troops to begin with, so I seriously couldn't figure out what the hell I was supposed to do.
What I had to end up doing was to just keep using bows in the correct counterpick, but they had superlow killing and superlow casualties, like 20 deaths and 30 kills. I ended up just holding Ctrl and kept whittling the other generals down mainly with Bachou's Ougi. I ended up finishing the fight after like 70 days, way longer than all the other fights, and it seemed like it couldn't have been the correct option to use, mostly because I can't always rely on Ougis if I have to use Shuri to counter their Ougi.
How the hell was I *supposed* to do this? The game doesn't really go into good detail at all how *exactly* the troop balances (between light/heavy/bow) affect your casualties/kills, and the +attack/+defense explanation is really, really vague.
tl;dr - Wait, I can't tl;dr this.
Also I think I tried to play a Three Kingdoms game on the SNES. Absolutely no explanation of what things did, combined with not being in English means I didn't really do much with it. :d

Seriously, I don't understand why so many people has trouble with the battles, it can't be easier than actually is, come on, first battle on the trial, take a look at the formation explanation and I didn't have anymore doubts in that regard. In the that battle against Enshou, 20k vs 30k I think it was, you just have to beat 15k of them before turn 10, which is pretty easy, really.

Before people go into PARTY HARD, only three routes and the harem ending are entirely voiced. 15 of the 207 scripts of the game didn't work, some of them weren't even modified, so the patch creator doesn't know what's breaking them. He doesn't have the patience to do a v2, but anyone is free to try it.

didn't work for me I did the following, though:
- overwrite with the big sevo file and the script file.
- extract the koihime_voice.rar file into game folder, result in getting whole lot of .snx files in the game folder.
- start the game, still not voiced as usual, I noticed that the config menu still the same as before, should it be something new like 'character voice volume' ?
Not all characters are voiced. 15 scripts were split and therefore scrapped with possibly more to come. This is not an official patch and therefore no addition of volume control. ::)
It worked for me but in my save as I leave the home phase I got a crash, I'll wait until tomorrow and see around here if it's worth to restart my playthrough.

Well, I think I know how Battle System work.
1) First general is as same as Ougi skill Select. No effect on army.
2) Second general have a lot of effect on army. Minimum % of soldier for each type are vary depend on general you choose. (% of soldier type affect damage each command cause) Each general have different bonus when use some formation (see in-game).
3) Enemy has fix attack that easy to predict.
4) About formation, Choose +Atk (Unit type) for maximum damage.
5) Choose +def (Enemy attack type) for minimun damage.
6) Charge command has most damage but most casualties too.
For example:
I encounter puppet army in mid-game
-My soldier 80000 vs Enemy Soldier 100000
-My first general is Kan'u (You can choose anyone)
-My second general is Kouchuu (Archer general)
-Soldier type : light 20 heavy 30 archer 50 (I mainly use shoot command.)
-I use inverted wedge formation (+atk archer /+def heavy)
I got at least 5000+kill/~400death per round with shoot command
Enemy archer usually doesn't cause much damage.
*for another battle if enemy use charge, you can change to echelon formation (+atk archer/+def light)
**I use this setting almost every battle and win with least than 30% casualties

Yes, but I don't recommend the current voice patch. You can download everything and wait for the new patch. It's not worth it to play the game with constant crashes, loops and scene skips, to hear voices only on certain parts of it.

I found out that this bug was caused by 0SNSOUGI-002A.SNX file from the voice patch.
You have to remove this file to play further, but you won't get voice during the story in between this battle, and also
can't quicksave/rightclick/use log during this part or the game will crash!!! (you can do it after the rest of the battle).
There may be similar fixes to other problems with the voice patch

Anon's got some help and theres only a few scripts left. Although the END scripts they're having some problems, hope it turns out ok for the full patch.
Anon just found out that the scripts need more changes than the ones that were made until now. There are still no instructions on how to deal with it, and so we are stuck at the moment.
EDIT: Anon is faster than I thought. He is doing it by himself so that noone messes up, but he needs testers.

- After 3 playthrough, play again however you want, at the end of the game the harem choice will appeared, you can't miss it :)

While in battle is there ever an option of using Ryofu/Ren as a general? I mean if you're given the option of choosing Shion you'd think that you would be able to use Ren.

There is no need to report anything during the next hours. They are working on a fix that will probably go through every error that exists on the scripts.
Thanks for all the help guys. Until the next patch (sometime tonight, hopefully) we wont be taking any more bug reports. A new method of fixing missing lines is being worked on and everything will by synced up. Very good chance this next release is going to be completely stable.
Release will be tomorrow. There's a metric shit ton of work (about 500 lines) to be manually checked.
The up side is we were able to locate every missing/incorrect voice call, so far as we can tell AND I do believe this should fix any crashes or skips too. (rx0 is a goddamn genius)
All that's left is wading through the code.

Ive been able to play the whole game with all routes done using the 1.2 patch without any crashes i did get 2 errors during the game but it didn't make the game crash simply the voice didn't play which was fine could live with 2 sentences without sound. Good game overall endings terrible though.
Hmm... how do you get the final Enshou scene? And I swear... Toshi is the only one with any sense in the group... she's adorable but she's either a masochist or still highly stupid to stick around with curly hair no brain blond snob...
In any case... there's a lot of lolis... and there's only three scenes to the daikyou and shoukyou's route...? cuz the final scene was even more anticlimactic than usual...

When the scene started i actually thought my game had broken cause the scene comes up so randomly.

Hopefully all problems are fixed. Scripts were scanned for stack and goto problems.
Also ALL voices were compared with original Japanse version. This release INCLUDES ALL VOICES as present in JP version.
Total count of added voices from last version is 836 (!!!).
Also some text lines were added that were in JP version, but for some reason were not present in EN version of game.
Please report any problems (screenshot or line that can be searched in scripts).

well... I must say... I think I sympathized with mangagamer in this one. Koihime Musou is a decent visual novel that you don't have to think twice to buy it. So anyone who can afford should buy it and support mangagamer, at least until they reach 2000 copies sold :)

I think it'll hit 2000 eventually, though it might take a few months or even longer - the majority of most games' sales occur immediately after release, and I think it's doubtful it'll make it to 2000 in the initial burst of sales before they begin slowing down.
ohh... the battle guide is decent... well the game wasn't that hard to begin with... too bad there's no reward for winning as quickly as possible or with as few casualties as possible... Banchou + Kouchuu with fire and Kan'u + Chouun with charge... and Shokatsuryou as strategist with intercept covers most of the game so long as you stick to advantageous formations 1, 6 > 2, 7 > 3, 8 > 4, 9 > 5, 10 > 1, 6... this is especially good if you use kan'u's Ougi... otherwise sticking with the star formations and making sure you have the advantage in compatibility is usually better.
i prefer shuri's ougi whenever possible, her cancelling of the enemies ougi is quite handy

Shuri can cancel the enemy general... but enemy generals usually suck compared to yours... (except Ren who beats down pretty much anyone and everyone)... Kan'u can get you 1-2 thousand more kills every turn and prevent 1-2 thousand of your troops from dying at the same time... sui and rin rin can do 5k once in a while... definitely outdamages your enemy's special unless your enemy is Ren... the other generals are better for strategist positions... their formation advantages are definitely meant for light infantry (Sei), archers (Shion), and heavy infantry (Shuri) respectively...
ah, I found it hilarious that at some point someone at MG probably used replace all to change alliance to anti-toutaku alliance
... mm... Sui is wonderful... urgh... it's annoying when the side routes beat out the 'main' ones.

(I've gotta say... the voices... were more loli than I expected... if that's a possible description... and sometimes I feel the voices don't match the character since I did my first playthrough without voice... Keifa for example... Sui's voice took some getting used to but it does match her personality...)

INSTALLATION: Overwrite the SNCHOUN-009.snx in your Baseson/koihime folder with the one provided.
TO AVOID A CORRUPTED SAVE:
-First make sure you're starting with a good save (not crashing now). Any save made on version 1.x of the voice patch WILL NOT WORK (probably).
-Save anywhere on the main storyline (not a home base), replace the file, continue playing.
So long as your current save is not corrupted swapping out the file shouldn't harm anything. Really the only thing that will cause you an issue is if you're on the specific home base that crashes the game (snchoun-009) when you change out the file - but for the sake of simplicity I recommend you just make sure you're somewhere on the main storyline.
A quick check has been done across all the scripts in the hopes of avoiding this particular issue in the future. Everything looks good, but a much more thorough check will be done with the release of 2.0rc2 (in which we hope to include both this hotfix and the Ougi voice).
If you find any more errors, please do report them.

make absolute sense. when I saw links to no-ip and erogedownload on /jp/ I had a guess this would happen. now no-ip site gone and all the hotfile links on erogedownload are dead. funny how I found this page by /jp/ (and a love hate relationship is born for /jp/) maybe a twitter page would help to keep all inform but don't know how safe that is.
I don't have a problem with /jp/, they only needed to know that something was "on K1" and no one would ask for addresses or anything like that because they knew what we were talking about, but there are people that like to think that they are doing us a favor by going all "herp derp I post on K1 and I want links for this game" or "I come from K1 and we have links from this game" with full addresses on their posts and all that. It's not like we never posted the address over there, but not on release threads. It was a known fact that MG monitored those threads even before they started reporting everything on them.

I've just updated the first post with some download links and the most recent voice patch.
Give me a ring when the voice patch is finalized. I don't have much time so I figured I'ld wait for everything to properly work before taking a whack at it.
From what I got on the last thread, there are only a couple of lines that need to be fixed (the voices play at the wrong time) and they are trying to make the voices stop when a scene ends, instead of them playing until their end or the next voiced scene.
The next patch will probably be the last one, given the amount of testing that the current version has and the fact that no one else seems to have found any other problems with it.

Koihime is great VN however my final impression is was damaged by too small number of endings and their quality(or rather lack of thereof). Only harem ending was acceptable but it wasn't perfect too. I'm glad that after finishing game once battles can be skipped. I hope that Shin Koihime will be translated by someone as I doubt that Mangagamer will do it.
That would have to be a pretty underground translation effort.

Kohime Musou is just one big route where you get pretty much a harem of all main characters from each other country. You only end up with the most annoying characters in the end though ( sorry just my opinion ;< )
Shin Koihime Mushou are 3 different routes which focus on the 3 big main countries and are very different from each other. The main arcs are pretty good actually, for example the Go/ Wu faction story had 2 really depressing moments which were pretty impressive. Add on top of that tons of new characters and interactions to the game and make it at least 3 times as big as the first one, and you got a game which is a lot better than the first one imho.

Seeing how we still got no official voice patch ... it didn't sell all too well I'd say.
It still cost a lot and the price didnt drop that much after they annonced the voice thing people could be waiting for a voice version but who knows.

again, you try to associate the relationship between expansions and alternatives. It will be nice if they translate shin koihime musou, but it has nothing to do with Mangagamer not translating expansions because shin koihime musou is NOT an expansion.
With that said, they translated DC and shuffle because it was shorter and could net them income. In the future, they could always translate the extra routes and re-sell DCPC (I know they have license for this one) and Essence as a game and get more sales. It's a business strategy where they milk as much money as possible.
As for Shin Koihime, it's unlikely that Bason would agree to localization since it has been proven that the market base of Koihime titles are not even close to their target of 2,000 sales.

well sorry for at i asked. It whas just a simpel question, No harm done.
just to let you know, the links are kinda in the wrong order, in the first list the first part is called "KM.part01.rar" then the next part is called "KM.part03_0.rar" (there's 15 links in both lists so .part02_0 must be elsewhere in the list) and in the second list the first link is "KM.part02.rar" and the second link is "KM.part01_0.rar"
i tend not to make these multipart rar file, i rather just create a basic installer with InstallCreator and split it with that but logically if you start to uncompress KM.part01_0.rar it will throw an error if it tries continue since it needs KM.part02_0.rar instead of KM.part02.rar
so just keep this in mind if anyone goes to download, check the file name before you download to make sure your getting the right part, the name should be identical except for the incremental number after .part.....unless someone wants to correct me and tell me that the _0 at the end means nothing in the long run
