Description:
The series focuses on the lives of some students and teachers at Nadesico Academy both at school and their private lives. The main character of the series is Kamikura Hiroki, who lives with his younger cousin Elis. Hiroki is training to become a full-fledged art teacher while also trying to take care of Elis. When his childhood friend Kiri starts working at the school, drama begins to flare as he has to juggle his work, private life, and the feelings of these two important girls.

uh the game link posted was the CD version, will it work with the patch?  The patch was labeled DVD after all...

Sorry to kinda ruin your good will, ManaYagami, but what you've uploaded is the CD Edition of Canvas 2 (released in 2004). Edger's translation patch is meant for the 2006 DVD Edition of the game, which added extra scenes, 2 new routes (Mami and Tomoko) and different OP/ED. Maybe the patch works with the CD Edition (I haven't tested it), but you'll miss 2 routes anyway.

I encountered problems with the patch, it seems that the game that was attached is not the DVD version, after applying the english patch it keeps asking me to insert Canvas 2 DVD (which i tried to mount all 3 cd image but to no avail)

Hmm oh well nothing you can do about that since you are probably using the cd version when the patch is meant for the dvd version

Download the DVD torrent in Gogeta's post, the patch works just fine with the DVD version but not the CD version. I'm seeding it now, and the download speed picked up pretty well for me after a very slow start so I assume there's going to be a few seeders in response to the translation patch.

wow, was playing canvas 3 since yesterday, would be keen to play this after i've cleared canvas 3.

Shit happens! I replaced the CD version links with the ones posted by KPAnon and, I already knew that torrent from when I read the thread on /jp/, but I went with some DDL that were supposed to work with the patch, since my connection suffers from severe traffic shaping by my ISP. Megaupload was messing up with me and it took me until this morning to download all of it, just to delete it after I read the new posts.

got a problem i have the game and installed correctely but bassicaly upon load it get the intro the EC01 logo thing.... then it fades to white and stays white...... nothing from that point no crash the programs responding i can go into the settings but its suck on that white screen.... any ideas?

That should be everything, really. The menus are untranslated, it's just the text that's translated - not to denigrate the translator's efforts (it's perfectly readable) but it really shows that he flew solo on this one  :P

Play Saya's route, at least her voice is soothing. Though you should get used to Elis' voice after a while.


Hm I've only played Kiri's route so far, saving Elis for last. She was pretty accepting in Kiri's route, wonder if it changes at all, guess i'll find out.

Just finished Tomokos Route (probably one of the worse choices for the first playthrough :-/) and Elis being hurt was just like a little side note, so no big fuss about it.

Well Kiri's was satisfying enough. If you can accept the typical stupid dense protag. He doesn't start acting his age until right at the end. Kinda wastes the whole adult teacher setting when he still acts like a moronic high schooler. The things that make the route good though are, Kiri, rival best friend and the 'dramatic' scenes were well done albeit expected (though what isn't these days). And aside from Elis, Kiri seems to be the main/most natural heroine for the protag considering their past & present lingering affections.

Yeah, I got the sense that Elis and Kiri were the two main heroines too. And the game seems to telegraph what's coming up a bit too obviously with regards to story developments.

Also playing Elis's route makes me feel pre-emptively guilty for the times I won't play her route lol, at first I thought her attraction/obsession with the protagonist was way too over the top but with her back story it kind of makes sense for her to cling to him so closely.

Is there a way to skip text you've read? I didnt see an option for it, i dont feel like playing it again if i have to re-read whole sections again cause something changed 1 tiny bit :p

On the right side above the textbox, there is this little arrow-like button with "off" written on it.
If you change it to "on" you will skill read text, if you change it to "all" you will skip all text.
(although I didn't test the last part, but what else should it be?)

so who where the two new routes added in this DVD version?.... tbh im pretty disapointed that shie is a bonus side dish in the kana route..... shes really really cute for the limited time you have her.... iv noticed that my prefrences for routes seems to be the girls that like to argue alot.... which this game is full of, i hate the cute ONICHAWWNNNNN type thats for some bizar reason aparently populer, but man this game is great theres tons of argumentative characters its really great for a guy like me.

K, just finished Sumire route and it was pretty crap. Sumire is by no means a bad character, I actually like her. But rather than the heroine being the main focus it seems the main focus was emo protag. First half felt like it would go deeper into Sumire's background and problems, but apparently there were none except resolving protag's emoness. Oh well onto the next.

il give her a skip till near the end then, I did enjoy tomoko's although the sex scene was a bit out of place especialy if you pay attention to the dialog just before.... im not sure id suddenly be hot and ready if i hadent eaten for awhile...

Finished Mami's route, the love triangle in the end with Elis was *awkward* and it felt kind of weird ignoring Elis during the whole period thing, but I really liked it otherwise and the sex scene at the end was really intense  :o

Honestly I thought Ellis came off as a lot more childish in Mami's route, and crossed the line from cute to annoying. Though, despite what I may have said earlier, I only played Ellis and Mami...Canvas'd out.

WOWWWWWWWWW, really liked the story, like reading a good book. more games should be like that.  Ellis ending was the best( well it could have been bit more dramatic), the graphics was also nice.thanks for uploading, also thanks to the translators who let us play Japanese games in English(or else it would be uselee to buy the game).

Anyway, I usually play my VN games on Fullscreen. That's one of the benefits of having the whole room for yourself and being able to use the 'lock' on your door... but anyway... Canvas 2, along with some other games do not make me fully fullscreen it...

What happens after I click on the 'fullscreen' button, basically my screen just went black and kinda refreshed with the game staying in 'window' size while there are black borders on my screen making up the rest of the so-called fullscreen...


I've tried Canvas on my old laptop for afew minutes, before it went boom... And Im quite sure that its able to go fullscreen without any problems on that old thing... >_>

Are you using the same screen and, if not, does it have any kind of screen size configuration for each resolution, like Samsung? I had the opposite problem while playing 640x480 games using a HDMI connection, the image wouldn't fit on the screen despite any settings that I would use, only a VGA connection fixed it.

I have the same problem but i play with the screen of the TV and it work well with that so i never searched a solution

I'm assuming you're using decently recent catalyst drivers. They have three different settings for full screen for software that uses less then your current desktop resolution for fullscreen mode:

1. Stretch: graphics card stretches resolution over your screen, ignoring source aspect ratio. In case of 4:3 aspect ratio games, and 16:9 screens, image becomes stretched. If you're using an LCD screen, you will also lose some accuracy unless your monitor's native resolution is divisible by game's full screen resolution (i.e. 800x600 game with be good on screen where native resolution is 1600x1200 - multiplier of 2, but blurry and stretched on 1280x768).
2. Preserve aspect ratio: Same as above, but aspect ratio is preserved. You'll see full screen, but on wide screen monitors when viewing 4:3 content, there will be black spaces on left and right sides, while on 4:3 monitor while viewing 16:9 content there will be black lines on top and bottom. Blurring problem is still present.
3. Preserve original resolution: mode that you most likely have on. In this mode, game places your full screen image at the center of the screen in its original resolution. So in case of 800x600 game on 1280x768 screen would occupy 800x600 pixels at center of the screen, and rest would be black.

The "boom" is most likely driver crash, which reset driver settings to 3. Rather strange though, usually catalyst drivers have VPU recover function enabled that will automatically reboot the driver with its current settings just fine. You may need to enable it though, perhaps it was disabled?


P.S. @ Manayagami: your problem is most likely related to old bug in nvidia drivers where they incorrectly identified PC monitor as a TV and output incorrect size, causing either overscan or underscan. It could be fixed by specifying that you're using a PC monitor for output in nvidia control panel.

I'm actually using a TV, anything above 640x480 displays properly through HDMI.

Dont worry about the 'boom' thing.. That happened to my old laptop... Which is really really old...

Just bought this new laptop, which is in fact widescreen... So this is a problem I've never encountered before. And no, I am playing it on my laptop and not connecting it onto some TV or anything...

If I remember correctly, you need to go into catalyst control center and in there find either monitor or resolution controls. It should be there somewhere.

I can't check the exact path because I gave my ATI-based machine to my parents a few months ago and am currently running nvidia.

This works... kinda... i have to manually shift from 800x600 every time I want it to be full screen.. and back to my defaults once Im done with the game.

While it would work for other games either/or I'm pretty sure Canvas 2 only works with Japanese locale.

well i somehow got it i opend the packaged data with deamon tools and somehow got to the instal window

after dis i can choose betwin  HDD 700 MB somthing and  HDD 2.2 GB somthing (its in jap cant read it   ::)) i choose the 2.2 GB but after that i must choose again  >:(

btw the error s also jap so i cant tell whats wrong

The only thing it should be asking after that choice is where to installs the game and if you confirm your choice and then the installation should follows, simple as that.

When I mounted C2_DVD.iso onto DAEMON Tools it properly displayed the launcher, but when I click the "install" button the pointer acts like it's going to load something but nothing happens.  No install wizard pops up, nothing.  I'm running Vista x64 (I know) and I'm currently regretting it, since a lot of VN's can't be run on this system...It's like using a Mac.  Or a Linux.  Or a calculator.  Anywho, any help would be appreciated even if everybody's forgotten about this game by now.

EDIT:  Yes, I'm running Japanese Locale.

Vista 64?  really?  Well, the good news is that it should work, perhaps you mounted the wrong thing or perhaps the patch  has an autoinstaller or something but it should work.  The bad news is that I have no idea how to get it working since it worked for me and I don't have a habit of uninstalling games.

Hrm.  Well, the installer runs now thank God.  I had to delete the registry keys on my comp from an earlier install attempt.  Then I ran the cd2inst.exe instead of the launcher and it ran just fine.  Thanks for the quick reply invictus, I never would have noticed the direct install app otherwise.

Hello everyone. I cant play this game. The game start but when i play for litte bit i get a error 3FFF or something and resten are in japansk, So how can i fix this? Please hjelp me whit this one, I really whant to play this game.

I've never seen this error before, actually the game ran perfectly fine here.. I'm guessing you made sure your locale was in Japanese.

Simply press the "Prnt Screen" next to the F12 key on your keyboard. Then open Paint and press CTRL+V in it, then save the image in PNG format. (Make sure not to save it in .bmp at least)

Alt+Ctrl+PrintScreen will capture an active window, in this case the error box. Ctrl+PrintScreen will capture entire desktop. Afterwards just paste it to whatever imageviewer you use and save it.

However with Canvas 2 active neither of those will work, and that might apply to the error screen too. But if you're on Win7 you can use the Snipping Tool included in the OS, which does the same thing basically, just with more options. And works even if printscreen is disabled...

I only need to click the PrintScreen by itself to screenshot everything on screen here, I've yet to see it not working.. I'm beginning to wonder why everything work here.  ???

the translator released an updated 1.10 patch some months ago,you might want to try that to see if the game gets more stable

You have to switch your computer to Japanese locale for it to work, applocale won't work.

Japansk means japanese in most scandinavian languages. Seeing that his windows is setup to norwegian, then i think thats what he means.

Well, that 'style' is very distinctive and belongs to August (http://vndb.org/p95) (visual novel company)...

And yes,  YoakeMae (http://anidb.net/a4531) was made into an anime a while ago. The one with the (in)famous cabbage scene(google it). It was released officially in English just last year by Sentai.

It's not the only property by August to receive an anime adaptation treatment...
... so did Fortune Arterial (AniDB (http://anidb.net/a7890) | vndb (http://vndb.org/v87)) just recently while the vn itself is being worked on over at Chuu Translations (http://chuu.usiscon.com/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page),
Operation Sanctuary (AniDB (http://anidb.net/a2064) | vndb (http://vndb.org/v80)) got one already back in 2004,
and Princess Holiday (AniDB (http://anidb.net/a1665) | vndb (http://vndb.org/v198)) was made into a short hentai OVA.

Their most recent one, Aiyoku no Eustia (http://vndb.org/v3770), haven't(yet), but the vn itself is in the process of being translated by Yandere Translations (http://yandere.gray7.com/). They first translated the trial patch, but decided later to take on the full game...

Yeah, after thinking a bit more I noticed the drawing style was so familiar because of Fortune Arterial and my 6 hours straight playthrough of AnE's Trial, though the characters in themselves give me this feeling that I know them.. It was probably due to the anime since I can't find any french TL anywhere.. still have this feeling I might've touched the VN before though.

Added to my animes to (re)watch when my bandwidth is renewed. Quite the bonus if I get to read the VN too.

huh you're sure? FA is from August and their style are unique. Well ... not unique but they're more vibrant than most. Canvas style is pretty much the common anime fair.
