Mana

Original Title: 殻ノ少女
Translated Title: Girl in the Shell
Developer: Innocent Grey
Release Date: 2008/07/04

Official / VNDB

Description:
The year is 1956; a series of bizarre murders rocks the city of Tokyo. Tokisaka Reiji, an ex-cop turned private eye, joins the investigation at the behest of his friend Uozumi Kyozo, a detective in the MPD. At the same time, he takes on a missing persons' case at a private all-girls high school, as well as a mysterious request from a girl named Toko to find her true self. As Reiji frantically struggles to crack the case, he learns that the murders bear an uncanny resemblance to a case in which his own fiancé was murdered six years ago. But try as he might, the body count just keeps rising...

Just extract the voices to the game directory.

Voices are interpreted as sound effects (SFX volume slider in menu affects them) but are played in a different sound buffer so they won't get interrupted by any normal sound effects playing. Voice support is very basic with no bells and whistles such replaying from the backlog, additional related option menus, etc.

Bugfix(?) patch: Down!
Contains .tjs files (where they are are different) from the original non DRM release which presumably isn't affected by the notebook spoiler bugs. Untested.

Font patch: Down!
Replaces the ugly monospace font they used with Arial.

To use the patches, just copy to the game directory. I think the above 3 patches can be used in any combination; however, the patch file numbers must go in consecutive order (i.e. patch.xp3, patch2.xp3, patch3.xp3, etc. -- note there is no patch1.xp3). As an example: if you only want to use the font patch, just rename it from patch3.xp3 to patch.xp3.

Enjoy!

only  bad endings? hmm, in that case might need to reconsider it...

Mana

I don't know if there are only bad endings, but someone posted on /jp/ about a couple of them:

A very important tidbit about this: MangaGamer basically screwed up and the first version of the game they put up for sale had no DRM whatsoever. They have fixed it now, the current version has it.

The important thing is there's a major bug on the version without DRM. When you meet someone ingame, the MC writes a little profile on his notebook, which you can check anytime and is updated as you find new information about that person. However, when you meet the killer for the first time the notebook entry that gets added is actually the final one, which obviously tells you outright "this is the killer". Way to go, Mangagamer!

AFAIK, this only happens when you meet the killer for the first time, so further notebook entries will be the right ones. So if you're planning on reading this, don't read notebook entries for characters as soon as you meet them. If you wait until you get some more info on that character, the entry should update and it should be safe to check it. Still, I have no idea when it's safe to check as I don't know whodunit.

No word if this bug is fixed on the DRM'd version yet though. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
*cackle* and whatnot.

sengoku7

So basically this is just a bad end game? Everyone ends up dead or screwed up?

Way to screw a mystery game, MG!

Anon confirmed that the bug was also present on the japanese version.

EDIT: It seems that it was fixed on the demo, but they messed up on the full release.

Well there's no excuse if it's still there on the DRM version then. Still, quite the blunder to upload a premature build with such a serious issue anyway. Makes me wonder why they even had it around.

Yep, seems like the final version is also bugged. GJ dropping the ball, MG.
