Title: demonbane english version
Post by: michelous on September 20, 2010, 11:02:19 PM
the game was supposed to be released by end of summer 2010 which is tomorrow or Wednesday ???
so who thinks the game will go gold tomorrow and what are your thoughts on the delays for the game
i know the translation is done

I don't think we'll be seeing those titles soon. They are just going to sit there and wait for preorders to hit a certain number.

Post by: laplacian on September 21, 2010, 01:01:23 AM
I've got the game on preorder since it was open. So far I didn't get any notification about the game at all, so I can't imagine it being shipped anytime soon.
The lack of information is strange anyway.

nothing new, jast take forever to release titles, expect delays ::)
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: michelous on September 21, 2010, 07:48:26 AM
i think this delay might be a nitro+ problem and not a jast problem
because they were having problems with putting steins gate out in time it affected demonbane getting finalized
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: sazabi on September 21, 2010, 09:23:41 AM
well that sounds plausible as well, but either way the game will still end up being delayed :-\

Damn console VN's.

I'm looking forward to Demonbane more than any other VN being translated...except maybe G-Senjou no Maou (sp? too lazy to look it up). The lack of info is annoying as hell D:

so they just posted up an update, its pretty much been confirmed.....
theres going t be a delay :D
Title: Re: demonbane english version

That was completely unexpected! :o
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: michelous on September 22, 2010, 02:44:46 AM
i figured it was something on the nitro+ side
this is one of the first games jast has done with an active company

my guess is the delay was caused by the office move and the steins gate fiasco
they could also have tried to used the same fucked engine for steins gate on the english version of demonbane

Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: Mana on September 22, 2010, 04:40:51 AM
Because JAST never delayed any release before they partnered with another company.
Title: Re: demonbane english version

who knows, they might finally release demonbane around the same time as koihime ie. not gonna see them any time soon

never when their work was done
basically most of jast's work was done

Like that time they "threw Kazoku Keikaku's complete translation into the garbage bin", because they felt that it deserved a "superior translation" and then we got something full of OVER9000s. It really felt like they translated it 2/3 times and delayed it to deliver that so called superior translation.

I enjoyed it too tbh but yeah I agree it was kind of overrated. Or maybe it really was great and ruined by a bad translation. Matsuri made me, just for one game, a lolicon though... :-X

Depends on what you were expecting. It's nice not expecting anything, then getting a whole novel-type experience. Same with YMK. Although Cross Channel....how the fuck boring do you want to make that introduction. I can't get past it.
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: sazabi on September 23, 2010, 08:00:14 AM
well was not expecting much (hyped up stuff rarely delivers) but the overall experience was probably let down by dated graphics

I've been wonder about this for awhile, VNDB has Demonbane tagged with "Unavoidable Heroine Rape" and I was wondering how much "rape" is there?
Title: Re: demonbane english version

this is from one of the jast mods/translators
"On a tangent, we're working on a pretty big announcement for December that we think will bring some joy to the eroge world (holiday pun partially intended). More info on that as the pieces are pulled together!

Also, I can confirm that Yumina will not be released before Demonbane. We're very eager to see this first Nitroplus project complete."

Because GT4 was released 12 years ago. Talking about that, I should have just used Duke Nukem Forever's release dates, again.

Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: Mana on November 06, 2010, 06:37:15 PM
As if JAST hasn't made a habit of delaying releases several times. I don't have anything against delays, since they give them time to deliver something better. It's just like Shigeru Miyamoto says "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: NoSense on November 06, 2010, 07:34:14 PM
Not that there are still games, that are bad, even though they were delayed several times...
Well, still... a delay is better than a rushed job with nothing but faults...
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: Mana on November 06, 2010, 08:04:32 PM
Exactly, but a delayed game doesn't have any reasons to not be good, while a rushed one has plenty of them.
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: sazabi on November 06, 2010, 09:09:49 PM
so quickly release a game , if its bad got the excuse that it was rushed, rather than delay and it turns out bad anyway, no excuse then ;D

If you know it's going to be crap, just don't release it at all, instead of fabricating excuses.
Or work on it until it's at least decent.

Just a quick note here that things are very much hopping on the Demonbane scene and there will be more news tomorrow - February is shaping up to be The Month of Demonbane and I'm pretty psyched about it. Not as psyched as I'll be when the thing is finally printed, but this is as close as it gets.

We're committed to providing full information so fans can make informed purchasing decisions, and in close cooperation with Nitroplus we're looking forward to finally being able to bring the first NITROPLUS USA game to completion!

It's always good to know that they will inform us of what they censored on the right moment that they charge for the preorders.

Geez if march or april (or even later) becomes true that is incredibly sad.

Kinda makes me lol at this though:

   * Official statements on gemot and /jp/. --TinFoil 15:43, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Here's your official statement regarding our Nitro+ translations.

We are currently trying out a bit of a partnership with JAST USA in order to do a few different things:

1) Increase the speed at which the finished products are released. This is probably the item of most interest.
2) Ensure that Nitro+ fans are working on the projects, in order to provide the highest localization quality possible.
3) Simply get more Nitro+ titles translated in general and help support the companies involved. The fact that we can do this with Nitro+'s blessing is even better.

As for details of the partnership... Basically, we'll just let them have our current work and continue to work with them to finish anything we're not done with. We're also interested in working with them on games that haven't seen any sort of translation attempt as of yet.

Obviously, since we'll be working with JAST to have our translations released officially, we've taken the script files and patches offline. This was done in order to both support future official releases and to provide incentive for others to actually buy the damn games.

If you have any questions about this, or are someone who has translated or is interested in translating Nitro+ games, please don't hesitate to contact me or LoSs about the matter.

By the way, we will continue to work on the Noah translation project.

If this is any indication of how long it'll take to get an official Muv luv alternative out, we may be seeing a leaked patch from Ixrec.

I have to admit it, this was a good one. (http://twitpic.com/40nzsq) But if they keep going, there won't be anything else for us to read or see.

Their plan is show the entire game through screen shots, after which they will announce that the release of the game has been canceled.

They still need to go through the "avoid to burn audio CDs instead of games" step.

We will be posting here shortly with detailed notes on the release, including the package contents, localization decisions, content and crediting, DRM, and more.

Look forward to the changes made to Azif due to localization issues. E.g. Azif being changed into a 40 year old milf with a G-cup.

JAST has announced all the changes that were made. (http://www.nitroplususa.com/demonbane-release-notes/)

Localization Notes

Graphics

In the process of coordinating the graphic localization of the game with Nitroplus, they expressed concern over releasing the game with the erotic content uncensored given potential issues with the domestic industry in Japan. We reached a compromise that allowed the images to be present uncensored in our localized version, complete with a revision pass to the artwork to ensure consistent quality of the uncensored images. In return, Nitroplus required that the following disclaimer be present on the sexually explicit CG within the game:

Click on the image for a better representation of the proportional effect it has on a typical in-game shot. Other than this watermark, no images have been changed or removed from the original Japanese release of the game.

Text

The majority of the English translation was produced by the TLwiki Demonbane team (fully credited as part of the game's credit roll), with supplementary translation of some scenes provided by various JAST USA and other staff. The TLwiki translation was fully vetted by Nitroplus, and has not been altered from the content of the original Japanese. Note that the original game contains a few references to censorship made for humorous purposes; these are not edits or removals made by us, for example:

Minor edits for quality and consistency have been made throughout the game, and a patch to further correct minor text errors and bring a few passages in line with the quality of the rest of the game may be forthcoming synchronized with the game's release.

It's nice to see a change of pace in their PR department after the backlash that they had to deal with after Kazokei's release, with them showing what has been changed, avoiding censorship, talking about the translation and DRM, and even admitting that it will eventually need to be patched. Let's hope that it becomes the norm.

Jeez, now I've really got a full plate for March what with Koihime, Demonbane, and Guilty coming out, all of which I intend to pick up.

Nice to see the changes to demonbane are reasonable and we get to know about it before hand.

If you play normal games as well. March is a bloody crazy month.

And it seems that Modern Warfare 3 will be officially announced next week. (http://findmakarov.com/) I know that it has a lot of haters due to the multiplayer, but I only play FPS in single player modes, and it'll be fun to hunt down Makarov.

Well, technically KM is Feb 28 but who cares.

Also seeing Shogun: Total War coming out March 15 is so agonizing because I need to upgrade my computer to play it..

Yeh same, only play the single player stuff. Good thing is I can just borrow it from a friend too and don't have to fork out the ridiculous price activision prices it at. Also have a Jtagged xbox so that's pretty useful heh.

I gave up on Call of Duty after 4. It didn't get bad or anything, it just feels like the series hasn't really evolved since the first Call of Duty - like the same exact game just with different skins. Oh and they added regenerating health at some point. And I like the single player too but it's so short it isn't worth new game prices.

I've only played both Modern Warfare games, so I didn't notice that much of a difference. As for the health regeneration, blame the new wave of FPS gamers who are too used to Halo holding their hands to be able to play entire levels without running out of health.

I still prefer the classic FPS anyway which don't require the whole 'iron sight' targeting. Looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever and Deus Ex. Which will have completely different play styles. Classic FPS and stat-based/tactical.

I'm also waiting for Duke Nukem Forever, but I've never played any of the Deus Ex. Are they worth it?

Deus Ex first game was pure awesomeness. Somewhat dated graphics now, but great game. Pretty much the first RPG/FPS game around and fantastic branching story. Only problem is the shooting is level based, therefore you're gonna suck ass aiming with all weapons until you get some points into them. Other than that though, definitely worth playing if you can get over how old it is now. As for Deus Ex invisible war I enjoyed it, but it paled in comparison to the original, simply b/c it was turned into a generic FPS.

As long as it doesn't cause me motion sickness, like everything else that was released before 2000, I'm fine with it. It's the reason why I can't play Half-Life 2 for more than 15 minutes.

Don't know you'll have to try it. It shouldn't though, it's not super old school like wolfenstein 3d and it's not overly fast paced like HL.
Title: Re: demonbane english version
Post by: Mana on February 27, 2011, 06:34:02 PM
It doesn't get faster any than UT2004 or UT3 and I can handle them for hours without any problems, but, for some reason, I still have problems with HL2. As for Wolfenstein 3D, I managed to beat the game through sheer willpower, and then I spent the rest of the day sick. After that, I gave up on FPS until 2004/2005, when I found some that I could actually play without feeling sick.

Not even close to UT. You can even play stealthily so you should be fine.
