From a technical point of view, the context actually says it all since this line come out exactly when you enter the cafe. ;)

But I do agree I prefer the second one as well.

Edit : Another compromise for now. This one is quite minor in my opinion though, and I'm sure even without the "potatoes" part everyone will get it. Again.. low chances of fixing due to how the code work. =/ (Line breakings are only possible directly in the scripts, not the dialogues texts)  I could always use ruby code to add potatoes above of chips, but let's avoid this.  :P

Well, if anyone have suggestions to make it even clearer in as less words as possible, go ahead.

justinefremlouw

tbh, while annoying, just replacing the supposed spaces with symbols like underscore will work me thinks.  It'll be weird as you read, but at least it won't compromise the context while still having that readability afforded by spaces

Geckoey Lurker

The Original TL'd text is "Welcome homeow, Master♪", only change is the comma( , ) and the space after it becoming a tilde(~) which is already much, much better in my opinion.

NanayaEmiya

Hey guys, I have a suggestion here... Instead of using "But I refuse" (a very cliche phrase) or "Nope.avi" (seriously?), why not use this as an example:
in here, 0:51 Daga kotowaru! (Nevertheless I refuse!)
From JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Series 4
Rohan Kishibe's saying
http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/%E3%81%A0%E3%81%8C%E6%96%AD%E3%82%8B
This "Daga" is so funny for Japanese.
So "Daga" became an internet meme.
"Daga" of "Daga Otoko da" is infulenced by that, I think.
So there you go, if you want a reference why use this one, it is all shown in the video.
"...So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works!"

megs

@NanayaEmiya Thank you. That explains a lot about this internet meme reference.

Perhaps the best way to handle this one is to write this one in romanji and above the translation of what she really said. Then have Okabe question her for using the word "daga" as a rebuttal and leave the @channer line alone.

HurpDurp

The funny thing is that it's highly unlikely she could really be a 2channer because she's lived in America for 7 years and 2ch does not allow proxy/foreign IP ranges to post. It's locked in a read only state. So prior to her return to Japan, the only experience she could have with 2ch would be through lurking. I guess the guys at Nitro+ were ignorant of this. I however am not. It really sucks when the only people who could answer your question cannot hear you because the best site to ask effectively muted your voice. :'(

Keep in mind @chan is fictitious, so it's possible that US is not blocked out of it.

Also I can prove the meme did not even exist at the time Steins;Gate was released. Meaning there's no way in hell the game ever referenced it.

Well, I didn't mean it like that. I meant that she's probably saying some Japanese meme and the translator translated it to "Nope.avi" since every *channer (who I still believe this whole series demographic is) would understand it better over some obscure Japanese meme. You know, localization and all that crap?

Hey guys, i have a question here: I use this patch to patch up S;G (this is from Blachimont's post "Torrent for v1.3;
http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo&tid=279529")
So when i played the game for a brief while, I noticed that the following are not translated...

Did I messed up on patching this? or is it that the titles of tips and achievement content are not yet translated at this point?
I went to find my answers from the previous posts (pages 4-8). Wew, tough luck.

And if possible, can someone post the latest patches/addons bcoz there's a lot of versions there and people might not know which one is the latest.
I know the limits of how demanding i could. But yeah, life is busy irl. But if someone could care, much appreciated.

Thank you.

@NanayaEmiya, megs
Daga would actually be "but", "nevertheless", "nonetheless", etc.

So I guess I could replace the "but" by "Daga" and do was you said then.
Hmm. Yeah, that would work and still make sense. Thanks you two.

@HurpDurp

The problem is that this isn't exactly a localization, though it would be the best to keep it understood by most people.. but still wouldn't want it to look stupid. I think the above suggestion is fitting quite well at the moment.

/ Small reflection, there is actually lots of instances of Okabe, Daru, and Kurisu using "Daga", not just this one. Maybe it'd be better simply not think any further though, but.. bleh, I guess most people will understand it and notice it through the voices.

@NanayaEmiya

Next time, read the readme of the auto-patch, it should've been included in there. :P or did I forget..?

Also, the latest version is currently on vn.shourai and on the original post here.

Just played through prologue (1.3)

Having 'left' doesn't make sense, perhaps if it and 'had' were reversed. However wouldn't this be better;
'She even had that same look of displeasure as in the photo'
...or if he's referring to the photo instead of her, just drop 'left' and it'll be correct.

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_2.jpg
'anser' => 'answer'  Might have been mentioned already...

Titles jumbled up. Spaces problem again?
Tips 171, 158, 048 same

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_4.jpg
'fron' => 'from'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_5.jpg
'it' => 'I'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_6.jpg
drop extra 'what's'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_7.jpg
'an' => 'a' ('..when an radar..' => '..when a radar..')
The choice of "a" or "an" is determined rather by phonetic rules than by spelling convention, so even though  it would have become 'an engineer' without the descriptive words (radar transmission), it's only 'a' in front of 'radar'...

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_8.jpg
'We've share an inseperable bond' => 'We share an inseparable bond..'

Actually, commenting on my earlier post, it should be left as 'Microwave Ophone (Temp)', as it´s explained in the context now that I've played up to it...

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_9.jpg
drop 'a'; 'with a something´=> 'with something'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_10.jpg
drop first 'is'; 'This is weird' => 'This weird'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_11.jpg
drop 'for'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_12.jpg
'here' => 'her'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_13.jpg
drop one 'about'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_14.jpg
drop 'I'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_15.jpg
drop 'by'

-- http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee37/TJJokela/ch1_16.jpg
'reaction's' => 'reaction is'

drop 'was'

Fadeout

Can't we have a new patch? A load of errors were reported and the risk is that always the same things are noticed.

It's better to keep the number of revisions within reasonable limits... Beta-checking takes time. And this game contains a LOT of text. And we haven't reproduced any game-breaking bugs in the code yet with v1.3 (provided the instructions are followed)

If you want to hurry it up, start digging through these for any errors; (v1.3 text/dialog files Ch. 1-11 + Prologue (all))
Ch_1+Proloque | Ch_2 | Ch_3 | Ch_4 | Ch_5 | Ch_6 | Ch_7 | Ch_8 | Ch_9 | Ch_10 | Ch_11 |
(Note, there IS no sg02_04.txt, only the corresponding codefile sg02_04.scr which isn't included in here (unless someone really wants to check that as well...))
Do mind that just checking through these isn't enough; to ensure context, and find any screen-breaking bugs, all instances must be played through...
Edit; And check if something has already been reported

I just whipped up a translation by replacement page for the legal disclaimer, it's not the greatest, but you're welcome to use it.

RaccoonGoon

Just registered to let you know that there seems to be a bug somewhere in the achievements translation.

Playing with Patch v1_3 and saves cleared on Windows 7 x64, I consistently get a freeze when getting the achievement for entering the wrong number ten times on the phone microwave. After I enter the tenth wrong number, dialog progression freezes instead of giving me the new achievement popup. Although I can right-click and open the save, load, options, and other screens, when I attempt to open the Achievements screen, I get a runtime error (in Japanese) and then the game crashes completely. My best guess would be that this is caused by an error or a unique character in that particular part of the achievements translation, considering that I didn't get that error when playing through with the old unofficial patch from back in September that had completely untranslated achievements.

Nonetheless, thanks for your efforts so far and keep up the good work.

Blanchimont

@RaccoonGoon I just played through that point yesterday while looking for things, and it worked as it should, no runtime errors... Can you give a screenshot of it? Install location? (Program Files?)

Did you use 7-Zip to unpack the archive(s)?

Check whether the patch files (v1.3) were valid
(crcs for some of the files);
- cosplay-patch 3DABA5D4
-- unpacked; nss.npa: 4DEACFC4, STEINSGATE-patched.exe: 48F36CCF

- Patch  6D28405E
-- unpacked; cgex.npa: 397A3CBD, nssex.npa: 3E0600AD

I'd guess if a parameter that wasn't accidentally set before use in code could cause random errors, but then again one would expect a lot more error reports in such a case...

...

This is a request to those who've played a bit; Can you check the crc of the STEINSGATE-patched.exe?
It should be ^48F36CCF..
... but earlier when testing various .exes to get past the crash when Tips is opened (solved already in v1.0), somehow the sizes of the .exes I used got changed a few times. Perhaps I simply messed up copy-pasting, backed up wrong exe, or similar... Still, ever since then I've put the parameter 'Read-Only' on it, just to be safe. If it's unchanged, the crc should be the above one. I HOPE this was just me messing up something, otherwise...
