Having recently read "A boy and his dog" I wondered if there were any post-apocalyptic themes VN's.
Maybe someone here knows of one or other..

Kureha

Planetarian is a KN but the only one that I played with that kind of theme.

There really isn't many Post VNs, even the VNDB only have 14 of them. (Unless I got the wrong tag)

Muv-Luv Alternative is pretty damn good too in its own way, you can go straight to it without reading the sequels though it do be better to in my opinion.

Kureha

Hmm, I guess I should play it again, everything I remember from it is blurry since it was one of the firsts I played. Will do that.

Swan Song might not completely fit the 'apocalyptic' scenario (local one only), but you might still want to give that one a try. It's a god vn nevertheless...
