I do not defend racism or anything similar, however there are many comments and conspiracy theories traveling the Internet about the plot of the light novel. The theories even say that it's hinted in the novel at him being the japanese prince Yasuhiko Asaka that lead "The Nanking Massacre", that was an episode of mass murder and mass rape committed by Japanese troops against the residents of Nanjing (Nanking), during World War II, due to the death toll Renya mentions that he killed and that the conspiracies claim to be a reference to the date the massacre began.

Due to these hints and at the racist remarks by the author on Twitter, the anime adaptation for this series was cancelled and everything will likely get axed. Even the manga is in danger.

I already know that this is not a forum for debates, I just wanted to get it out of my system and comment that within all this there is a small good thing, at least for those of us who want to continue reading the novel, "It seems to be" (;D) that Infinite Novel Translations retakes the translation since J-Novel has removed it from its catalog. So for those of us who hope to continue reading this light novel there is a small plus, regardless of all the controversy that has been generated.

Soon after the anime project was announced on May 22, the novel author's past discriminatory comments against Korea and China on Twitter were found, then his political stance had been severely criticized by by people in Japan and abroad. He posted words of apology and deleted those Twitter comments on June 5.

In one case on the Light Novel, the writer described the main character as a Japanese that went to China in 1953 and killed a total of 3712 Chinese during the world war. In the end, he got away with those and lived until the age of 94.

Now those numbers are not coincidental as they are messages that decode to several horrendous dates on China's World War history.

It is reported that the published version of the novel in China got a different version, which enabled the work to get pass through the Chinese demographic. The anime's official website was also only accessible in Japan hence the hard time for the community to realize the fascist writer's intentions.

Japan is trying to avoid these conflicts as 2020 Olympics is swiftly approaching, and the continuous degradation of relations between Japanese citizens against Koreans and Chinese is definitely not helping. The rise of fascists in Japan is due to the never-ending pride of who's to blame and who has won during the era of World War II.

I've realized there is a more relevant question.  Will the author be continuing the series after it is dropped by the publisher?

Irc it wasn't really dropped, author decided rewrite some parts with consent of publisher to make it less "controversial". After he is done re-edited should be published instead of older version.

Or something like that.

Even if he does re-write the non-conformist parts, think I'll stick with the original, I'm not so weak of heart, fact is kinda has a point. Something tells me it'll be a while before we see anything new. :'(
