[H-Game] Nocturnal Illusion

Nocturnal Illusion is a Japanese bishōjo eroge, developed by Excellents Japan. It was translated into English and released in the United States in 1997. Jast later acquired the rights to re-release the game after the original localization company (RCY Brothers)had gone under.

In 1998, a 2-CD revised version of the game with better graphics, sounds and this time with characters voices was released in Japan, by Apricot. It was never translated.

Gameplay:
In this, the main character decides to get away from it all during his spring break and stay in the mountains. While staying in the mountains a massive storm starts leading to the main character fainting. A mysterious woman saves him and uses sexual pleasure to keep him warm. It turns out that he is now in a mansion that is outside of regular time and space, with a gate that only opens when it chooses (while not explained who does it, food among other things are left at the gate by some unknown force). The woman who saved the main character is the mistress in charge of the place.

Woah, what an oldie, pretty sure this was one of the first h-games I ever played.
It was pretty enjoyable if I remember correctly, though back than pretty much every h-game was.

Hi.
Can anyone help me getting this game to start?
I unzipped the file with winrar (do I need to do it with AppLocale?), then I've run the setup.exe and installed to C:\nocturn
Then I applied the patch to the setup folder as indicated.
And now when I run the setup and click on Start Game, it exits from the setup menu and nothing happens.
What's wrong?

I would be very pleased if anyone could help me out. I've been looking for this classic for months.

I haven't played this in years, so I just reinstalled the game without Japanese locale and Applocale on XP SP3 x86.

If you run Setup.exe from the installation folder, it won't find the game's executable. You must run the "Setup" folder's Setup.exe or go into the "muge" folder and run muge.exe.

I had XP installed this morning and now the game works with the initial setup.exe
I had windows2000 yesterday and it didn't work... yeah whatever.

This whole install seems to be fucked up.. why not do it the way Vile says to?  Install the Memorial House Collection version than install it?  Because I will tell you right now I went through the fucked up installer for Nocturnal Illusions and the text was unreadable for the directory even in Japanese region mode.. as well as their was no instructions on how to install any of this.

Ok I uploaded the file as a single extract folder.. extract and play.  I have the voice files in since they may release a new patch later that will allow voices to work with it.
