oh wow this is great news, great job as always mate, i have finished one route using translation aggregator + wakan (furi helps alot) mind if i ask which route/how far is the translation patch?

This pre-alpha patch was released when they reached the 50% milestone. There isn't a single route that's complete and, no one should bitch about the names used for the characters. They will be changed to localized names on the beta patch and to the proper names on the final patch. It serves to properly identify to which stage of the translation the patch belongs to.

FS is pretty nice actually. You can dl quite a lot of files before you are forced to take a break and the speed is pretty decent, too.

I tried downloading UBW from there, the speed capped out at 12kb/s.

Using JD here, so iunno. Oh the usual cap is about 800 for MU.

I got good speeds downloading off FS last night, better than I usually do MU, but since I don't use any sort of extensions for downloading from download sites I'd have to say I prefer MF/MU due to lack of waiting times between downloads. Also FS has really obnoxious captchas.

so based on the progress, only suzuno (can anyone confirm this?) and kururi's route that has been translated so far? i am in progress of going through mayuri's route.. but seeing that darkwolf said that it hasn't been completed, i might ditch it for another route : ( ... or just go through with TA

It's something that can be done by trial and error, with minimal possibilities with the files you're given. And two majorly obvious possibilities would be to place the 'data' folder supplied in the 'Flyable heart' main folder or place the files from the 'data' folder in the main folder. I let you figure out what works... surprised someone else hasn't already spoon fed you though ;p

The patch updated on 13/12 says its on 90% but still have those weirds names. Means its still in alpha?

That or they're just trolling around with the patch, given the QUALITY of the translation until now.

Aren't the weird names just a product of the machine translation being unable to translate names? So so far it's just been a cut paste job, with maybe a few edits here and there. The names should get changed in a re-translation and editing phase. Going to take a while though. Curious how they plan to do it considering how wrong a lot of the machine translation is, I suppose it's a loose guide if they are keeping the original Japanese somewhere to compare later.

That's why they could be trolling and release it just like it is, killing the hopes of everyone waiting for a proper translation. If not, it'll be stuck in editing hell for more than a year.

If it's a troll they're putting way too much time and effort into it. Besides flyable heart is one of those VN where you can get through with minimal japanese understanding. It tends to be the same for all 'school life' genres that don't have complicated plots, and instead the meat of it is based on slice of life small conversation between the characters. The machine translation although wrong can actually be helpful in triggering what you don't get straight away from the Japanese by filling in the gaps for your brain; assuming you at least have some japanese vocab in you mind to consolidate with.

I've seen even worse screenshots and that's why I say that it will get stuck in editing hell, in the case that they are actually serious about translating it.

When Amane is saying 'shi shi shi' equivilent of 'sshhhh' (be quiet) it gets translated as 'shit shit shit' in the machine translation, now that ones bad. In your example they had the literal meaning of what taiyaki is so it's not wrong, just a poor localization. We could pick out hundreds of mistakes, but what would be the point we may as well be the ones translating it ;p

Just b/c the machine translation is bad doesn't automatically mean troll.

If the worse thing about the translation was just memes like this one, I would be fine with it.

What I find interesting about this project is the fact that IF this translation does become a readable one in the distant future, then it would become the first real positive result of trolling in recorded history.  Now thats something to tell your grandkids about.

If not, we can always wait for the true Flyable Heart translation project that's going to take longer to complete, but which is making some progress.

I was checking out their editing progess and, good lord, these guys are retarded beyond belief.  I actually had to read that stuff again just to verify that I wasn't seeing things.  Its pretty bad when stuff thats actually translated correctly gets retranslated into garbage.

Anyone else having issues installing the patch?   every time i try to it says fatal error   points me to
dll/pal.dll   and bgm.pac  2 seperate windows of course

Is your game installed in a place that has restricted write access? If it is, try executing the patch as administrator. Apparently, it needs to rewrite some files. I got those errors and that's how i solved it.

funny now the game always crashes whenever i want to save or load game.. it was working fine with both alpha and beta patch, reinstall the game, install the patch again and still it crash whenever i want to save the game, anyone encounter the same error?

After playing this, I must say the translation is quite bad there are a lot "O RLY" and "what the F**k", the more I play the more I have to agree that this is looks like a "troll" translation.

Must say I'm disappointed with this.

I was very interested in the idea, Using  machine translation they could read the text try and comprehend what was being said and rewire it in natural English.

From what I've read they barley improved on the machine translation, the editing is bad things don't make sense. if you are going to try and do a translation like this you need to use multiple translators combine them them all together with the context and any other cues(such as tone of voice) and work out what is being said, then you need to express that in natural English. Basicly you have to work 10x as hard editing to cover for lack of translator, they obviously didn't do this, all the memes and silly stuff they did resulted in a poor product.

I normally am very oblivious to poorly translated stuff Edelweiss didn't faze me much there were a few moments i had NFI what was being said but for the most of it i was ok. I'll give this a try and see if it is truly as bad as I've read.

I'm just really disappointed in this I know they with a machine translator the translation would be inaccurate in some places but i thought that they would be able to get all the other things Right such as Hacking, but the game crashed and the font is bad, Editing finding parts that don't make sense and fixing them, to a lesser extent roper grammar and Professionalism all the memes poor jokes and trolls in this game.

So, I guess I'll hold off on this game for a while.

Well, some people did try to edit some of this stuff, but it was quickly changed into the gibberish that your reading now.  The argument was that by doing so made the translation "more english" instead of keeping the original meaning.  This has been a growing concern among translators as of late, but it tends to make things look like a 3rd grade remedial english assignment as a result.

Why would translators be concerned?

It's fact that a pure machine translation by someone who doesn't know the japanese language is doomed to fail unless they're some kind of genius that can pick the correct translation for each word and work out the grammar from a messed up machine translation. Which is actually harder than a straight japanese to english translation using a dictionary and some knowledge of how sentences are structured. So in short pure machine translation is redundant except for the most simple of sentences, but even then why bother I'm sure most people can figure those out without a machine translator. Machine translation only works between languages that are similar or are the same in structure.

That said, there's nothing wrong with trying. But it proves the point machine translation for japanese to english just isn't feasible at this stage.

I installed the game and the patch but when i play the game patched (with the lastest v (1152) ) the game always crash at the beginning juste a few line before the op movie , tried without the patch the game works very well , please help u_u even if the translation of the patch isnt very good i dont care but the patch that make the game crash isn't really good u_u thanks even if nobody can help me (hope not)

How to install this game, because everytime i use the patch, fatal error always come. It's say Fatal Errorpatching file. You may have to reinstall dll\PAL.dll and bgm.pac . Can someone help me to solve this problem? And also how to use NODVD patch and the link? because when i use NODVD patch, the game broken afteri choose new game

So either own the game legit, burn it to a disk and have it inside, use daemon tools virtualization or find a crack. You're honestly better off not playing this with the 'translation' patch though.

I love the title of the thread "Engrish"    Just noticed it.  Normally I hate the use of that word, but in this case it fits.    I would second that you are better off not using this garbage translation patch.

I especially love that "arrogant 'barrier to entry'" line.    That arrogant barrier to entry, by the way is actually knowing Japanese (and English) for that matter.    This whole thing has been a really bad joke from the start.    And quite frankly if you are wasting your time with this patch, the joke's on you.

Lame.  I've reached the point near the end of Suzuno's path where Shou tries to call his dad and the game crashes as soon as he picks up the phone.  Has anybody else had this problem?  Considering that I'm nearly done the game, this is pretty annoying.  Oh, and I installed the font pack, so it isn't that.

Damn, you're right.  I have build 1151 installed, since this game was kind of on the back burner for me.  I didn't check for the new version after I installed it back when version 1151 came out a while ago.  Thanks for the help, otherwise I might never have noticed.

I got mine from the site listed above.  I'm not sure why that "set to private" thing is happening either.  Keep in mind, though, you'll still have to go to the translation site below and download the fix file to change the patch to the most current one, as the link above gives you the 1151 build and not the 1152 build.  Apply the fix after you install the 1151 build.

Do you mean installing the japanese game or the english translation installer?  If its for the game, then simply explore the mounted image and run the setup using applocale.  Just for the record, I don't know if the game can run on applocale, as it might only work if your pc is set to japanese locale.

Woops my bad um i just got everything working so i thought i would get rid of it b4 anyone sees but thanks alot for the trouble. Uhm could you give me a step by step procedure on how to install the patch if it isnt too much of a hassle? I am somewhat confused on it. the FHinstaller seems to work on the FH.exe file once it is mounted but not on the FH.exe file in the installation folder D:

Alright, after you install the game you should bring the patch files into the folder where the game is installed (the files fhinstall and fhtrans_1151.d).  Next, run the installer and when it gets to the choice that asks you where you installed the game, then put that in that info.  That should be it.  If you're getting some type of error message, it would help if you told us what it was.  I have a sneaky suspicion that applocale is the problem though.

Hmm everytime it asks if i want to proceed, I click next and Fatal error opening difference file FHSTRANS_1152.d" I dont seem to have the file FHSTRANS_1151.d that you mentioned, can i not just go start from 11.52?. I tried using the one FHTRANS_HF1150_1151 that i got from your previous post but am not quite sure what to do with the hotfixes as you don't seem to mention the need to use it

The hotfix is only used if you have the 1151 build installed and it fixes certain game crashing moments in the game.  If you have build 1152 installed, then you don't need to apply the hotfix.

The newest translation build is what? RTM 1152? Is there newest patch? and does the translation still ongoing or just stop like that, with the start was quite good then going to the middle it's started to translated to weird English... please tell me that it's still ongoing...

Nope, you're looking at the final product.  The translator (for lack of a better term) decided to translate the project like that in order to stick it to all the supposed elitists in the visual novel community, or some other malarkey like that.  Its too bad, because the game has a good story.

Can someone help me how to install this game? i downloaded isobuster to extract the files on the mdf file to iso instead and all however when i go to SETUP file i get the install screen then next i'm guessing it has to do with where you want the file to go? i'm not sure but after i click okay it comes up with this error. i know i have everything or at least i think I have. lol, what? It's constantly bad. It reads like a slightly improved machine translation. There are a bunch of out of context literal translations or actions/descriptions that are attributed to the wrong thing, which a machine translation would do.

And this ridiculous translation of food with a description of it needs to end. Taiyaki was translated something like this: fish-shaped-pancake-stuffed-with-sweet-red-bean-paste. Yes, we really talk like that. Doughnuts are now ring-shaped-deep-fried-dough-with-sugar/chocolate/whatever-on-top.

Can someone please help me? I know this forums been dead, but I've been having trouble with this patch for quite a while. Every time i try installing it, this comes up:

I've ran it as administrator, doesn't work. I've reinstalled the game 3 times. STILL DOESN'T WORK. I put the patch file in the game file and both "dll/PAL.dll" and "bgm.pac" are both there. NOTHING WORKS!!

Also on an archived /jp/-thread there was a mention that it might be due to the files being in use by another program.

If you're on Vista/Win7, it could be permission errors causing this, in that case try installing outside of Program Files/Program Files (86).

I assume you have Japanese locale on your pc? AppLocale alone won't work with every game.

If it is your antivirus overreacting, try making an exception for it.

Also, make sure the patch you use is version 1152. And if you reinstall patch/game, make sure you uninstall them fully prior to it, instead of just overwriting...

I'm really sorry for the late reply, I forgot about this post. I've moved it to my desktop and my computer's on japanese locale. Nothing works. I either get the problem I just mentioned or "E=0".

help, i can't patch it.
I use win 7, and every time i try it said that it can't access the specified folder,path, or file. I already allow all in security tab. I tried to run it as administrator, but the result is the same.
I even tried to patch it using my win XP laptop, it worked for awhile until the actual patching, and it said something like "fatal error" or something.
any idea what's wrong?
