This game is quite decent, although it's marred by the fact that there are only 4 girls and the lack of a route for one of the side-girls (Ruriko) feels like a glaring omission considering how close she is to everyone during the main game and certain events that makes it feel off that she's never a choice (she's attainable in the fandisc only). It's also pretty long, both the common route and each girl's individual route, though sometimes they can feel a bit too slow paced and padded. Thematically the routes feel somewhat samey too, but I enjoyed the game in spite of that.

The route choices are a bit lame though. You basically pick a specific girl out of the 4 choices, and if you don't pick the same girl every time you're given a choice, the event will just finish as normal before giving you a textbox saying "this is a bad end, make sure you pick the same girl every time", which feels rather lazy. Especially because only twice does it actually give you separate events for that particular girl; the other times it literally only changes a single line of text.

Animation is a bit on the slow side, and the text skipping is VERY slow because of the time the game spends animating sprite movements. If you reload from the first choice that matters (picking a specific girl) and text skip, it will probably take you around 20 minutes to get to the specific route you're going for, if not more (I didn't time it, I kept a book handy).

Lots of negatives there, but I still thought it was worth the money. The characters are likeable enough, the sex scenes are fairly vanilla so they don't feel out of place, and if the fandisc ever gets translated (probably as likely as Shuffle Essence+ at this point  :'( ) I'll definitely get that too, if only for Ruriko (seriously, why was she never a choice?)

I don't understand why so many people enjoyed it, to be quite honest. Granted, I only read half—I assume anyway—of Chiho's route and eventually ended-up never touching it again back in like 2013 or so, but that is just how much it didn't grab me. If you go by money-playing time ratio then I'm sure the money is worth it, but 39$CAD is still too high for me despite VNs just being generally expensive. I'm mentioning the time-money ratio because one of the only praises I've ever heard about it is its length, other than the characters being mostly like-able, although I only really cared about Chiho and Ayaka, actually, I cared more for the side characters which makes me wonder if I should just skip to the fandisc.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody could tell me what its good points are and see if they can convince me to give it a shot again. If you have to spoil me minor things for it, then go ahead. Hell, what are the new scenes in the all-ages version? I haven't read any VN in English in a really long time, so maybe that could be fun.

As much as I enjoyed Chiho as a character, I disliked her route the most (though it was the last I played) because I felt that any sense of "seriousness" just got wasted away on scenes trying to be funny when they shouldn't and building the whole love triangle thing, and even afterwards her whole route felt kind of mundane up until the last hour or so.

That said, I think whether you enjoy the VN depends on what kinds of stories you find engaging. I mentioned it earlier, but the game definitely has pacing issues and it probably took me longer to finish it than it had to because I'd start losing interest at some points during the scenarios and leave it for a few hours or a day before resuming. I think the prose and dialogue are just fine, the characters are enjoyable and the music does a good job of setting the mood, but the story itself overstays its welcome at times and whether you enjoy it or not probably depends on how much "ordinary daily life" storytelling you want out of a VN. If you're the type who prefers a quick pace and a story that gets to the point with less build up, this VN will definitely feel like a slog.

*Slight spoilers*

Other than that there's the issue of the somewhat samey theme in each route. You could accurately sum up 3 of the routes with "mommy issues" and arguably the last route with "daddy issues", even if the specifics are somewhat different. When the story gets to the point it's done rather well; it sets the mood properly and the whole thing is interesting (to me at least), but again, it feels padded at times and the whole experience becomes a bit of a rollercoaster, and a slow one at that.

In short, the somewhat mundane story doesn't really justify the slow pace, and there's a distinct feeling that you've seen it before when doing successive routes since they tend to touch the same events and themes, just with minor adjustments. For what it's worth I liked Ritsuko's route the most, though in hindsight it's hard to say whether that was on the merit of the route itself or just because it was the first one I did.

As for why so many people enjoyed it, it's probably because it's... ok? It's not bad. The characters are likeable. The story has its moments. There's nothing outright terrible about it (except Ruriko not being a choice). It's just... not great. And it's not like English speaking players are spoiled for choice in the first place, especially people who don't enjoy nukige. Maybe that's why it has a wide appeal?

I enjoyed it enough to feel I got my money's worth (not being spoiled for choice and all), but I will likely never re-read it or think much about it again otherwise.

Awesome, thanks for the nicely put explanations. I doubt I will, but if I ever do hit it again, I'll probably just go for Ayaka's route then, most-likely won't read all the routes either way.

Probably give the fandisc a shot at some point regardless and hopefully the routes' themes will vary a bit more for each of the new 'heroine' this time. ;p

There's one thing I didn't mention that might also partly explain any popularity, which is that the MC is pretty likeable. He comes across as a bit of a superman all in all (something the girls mention too), but his situation in the game is still a lot more interesting than the blank slate "average guy" MC that most school-life VNs get, at least to me.

And while I don't know how many share the same tastes as me, I find that the sex isn't as awkward as it tends to be in a lot of VNs. On the whole the relationships and sex felt uncommonly romantic without being cheesy, which is certainly to my tastes. It was actually pretty heartwarming at times.

Of course my tastes might not be representative, but it's one possible answer.

Does anyone have a Walkrthrough? if possible post it please and thanks in advance

[Edit] Never mind since reading the reply above give me a basic idea on how to choice the heroine you like is practically like Majikoi and Imouto Paradise by clicking the picture of the heroine you like in the interlude anyway sorry for the trouble

Yep. You get 2 or 3 choices at the start which don't matter since the outcome is the same regardless of what you pick, afterwards you just need to pick the name of the girl you're after.

This game is average, my favorite characters (Ruriko + Marika) don't have their routes. The story is kind of forced and stupid. And the only route that I found somewhat ok is Ritsuko :(.

p.s: I may be too harsh with this game, because I read it right after finishing Majikoi, lol.

Haha, yeah, that comparison doesn't end favorably for Princess Evangile. It's an ok game, but playing it right after a first playthrough of Majikoi is asking to be terribly disappointed.

Damn it!? after the conflict with Ruriko Arc I wanted to pick her only to realize that their's no route for her and guys are you sure their's no hidden route for Ruriko? like finnishing all four Heroins first before you cam chose her route? or is it only in the Fandisk if theirs one?

I finished Ritsuko's route and the story is so so and it seems forced to me and the conflict or their problem is so clinch that I almost made me use the skip function though I enjoyed the Dere-Dere side of Ritsuko and I hate it that their is no after story like few years later or something

And hey will the other route be clinch and forced too? and the common route problem is annoying especially at the beginning even Otoboku is not this bad if you ask me and the setting doesn't really pick my interest even in the beginning it's more like I'm forcing myself to read it hell even watching the Maria-sama ga Miteru is a little bit more interesting than this while the MC is likable since I like him being a Superhuman at almost everything

Anyway I'm going for Rise's Route next though the main Antagonist would probably the Mother as well if I'm correct and all in all the common route and one route makes me want to give a low rating though it might change depending if Rise or Chiho's route would interesting though guessing with the reviews above it would probably boring as well though their Dere-Dere side would be nice to read

From what I've seen, Ruriko only has a route in the fandisc, including Mitsuki, Marika, Tamie, and Konomi. Obviously, the fandisc isn't translated and I wouldn't be too hopeful for it to ever be, although I would still pitch the idea to Mangagamer because you never know.

And from what CFreak said, the routes' stories probably don't get any better, heh.

I see then I would not expect Rise's and Chiho's route to be good then

cliche', forced, stupid story is what I think of this game overall...

Hahaha this Type's of VN's H-scene does not interest me but If I have to say the only redeaming part of Ritsuko's Route is her Dere-dere scene's

lol yeah, the only reason that I like Ritsuko is that she's honest when getting f*****,  there are some h scene that she looks very ecstatic, to the point of almost 'ahegao'.

I THINK the file you want is the PrincessEvangile.system.dat file, at least removing it locked the extras menu but I don't know if it also contains the specific things unlocked. I've attached it to this post; extract it to your Princess Evangile\userdata folder and see if it works.
