So I really enjoyed this novel... except for the smut. Said smut might appeal more to a female reader, but for me it mostly just served to get in the way of the plot. I wound up skipping as much as I could.... only to be annoyed that for a couple volumes the FL and ML basically only talk to each other about important matters in between huge swaths of smut. It is a testament to the novel's quality and the characters that despite this rather large detraction I still very much enjoyed the novel, and am eager to read more.
Overall, if you're looking for a nice fantasy/political romance story this fits the bills. Bonus points if you enjoy reading smut of an ongoing monogamous m/f relationship.... repeatedly. The sex is very vanilla straight m/f with almost no fetish content beyond... vigorous-ness.

This is one of the more sensible novels I've read where the MC goes back in time. Ending was nice too. Even showed the reason for MC's power.
