People were crazy about pets years ago. The particularly popular ones were cats and dogs that look human and have high intelligence. But the boom has died down with time, and now only people who really want them own them. Our main character is a college student who finds a stray anthropoid dog, collapsed in the rain. Unable to let her just die, he takes her up to his room and treats her. Even though he told her she can only stay until the rain ends, the dog stays in fear and worry.
The main character decides to look for her owner.
The life between a human and a dog starts...

I have to say i was pretty disappointed by this game. I played it a while back and stopped playing after getting the nadeshiko ending. You'd think for a game with 5 girls you can have sex with, itd have more then 2 endings, or at the very least the two endings would be good(comment based on only viewed the 1 ending).

Well, I played through the Risa route and that one wasn't too bad tbh, though in the end there were too many mindless sex scenes for my liking.
Nadeshiko one I never tried, seeing how I found her personality utter boring from the bits I saw on the Risa playthrough, though her dog pet was cute =p.
I have also played this a while back. But only Risa route. And i thought the story is good. That is why i still have it installed in my machine. Planned to go back to play other routes, but never get around to it yet. Is there really only 2 routes?

I likes Risa's route more. I also liked her dog more than Mikan.
I honestly didnt care for nadeshiko at all, i was mainly doing her route(though i wasnt aware of it at the time), to get the ending with her dog girl(koutaro?). I'd say more, but unforcantely the spoiler option doesnt work for me(permission?). Though as far as im concerned, the nadeshiko ending is the bad ending of the game, and completely put me off trying again.
poor nadeshiko-san, seems like nobody ever care about her route ;_;
(but yeah, honestly i like Risa's story better too) :p
Ok, I have the game installed as well as the English patch. But when I start up the game from the English patch folder I just get a black screen. What messed up?
I installed the ISO first. Then I installed the English patch to the same folder. Is this the right way?
Wow, it took a long time but I finally got it working.

i had to skip the whole scene to continue T_T
i think the nadeshiko is pretty appropriate. if you actually think about it, it would be really weird if they get married or something...

I absolutely love the whole anthropoid pet thing, but at the same time I feel that there could have been a better execution of the principle than this.
That being said, I still enjoyed the game.

The thing that I liked about this VN was the fact that the protagonist wasn't a moron. Alot of the more light hearted VNs tend to have wishy washy, indecisive and generally airheaded protagonists that supply the comedy/romance throughout the story unless you read darker VNs like Kara no Shoujo or something like that. Wanko to Kurasou's protagonist was a welcomed change of pace back when it first came out.
lol, reading this thread made me replay the game, but now the fonts are weird ("i" characters are a little out of place)
i reinstalled the windows several times since i last play it, and i forget how to fix the font problem... help please?
No problems with fonts here. I don't remember doing anything special for them either.
I think all you have to do for that is have Japanese Locale on or use Applocale but
from what I read Applocale seems to be bring in some crashes at some scenes. See for yourself.
EDIT : I tested with Normal Local and with it the text is a total mess.
Applocale make it less messy but it is still there and True Japanese Locale make it perfectly fine.
my computer is always in jap locale from the moment i install it, so i don't think that's the case

My bad, I really didn't remember anything about any fonts so I was gonna do some test to see and when I decided to uninstall the game it asks me if I want to remove the "Sazanami Gothic WTK font".

From the VNTS thread, it's still going on. It will probably take two or more years to complete, but isn't dead.
I get tired of dumbass bland protagonists too but I feel like Yuuichi's cynicism is overdone and makes him pretty severely dissonant with the rest of the game he's in sometimes. He has some reasons for being like that considering his backstory I guess but sometimes I can't shake the feeling he's a kind of a self-insert for the dime-a-dozen socially awkward misanthropes that populate large chunks of the internet.
Maybe that's just my reaction to occasionally seeing people gush over him, though, since you could interpret the dissonance as making him intentionally unsympathetic at times since he's such a party pooper.
[spoiler]Not to mention offering to pimp Risa out, basically, to pay for Silvie. He doesn't do it in the end but if he did, man, that'd be so far over the line. The fact that he actually offered to, perfectly seriously, is kind of messed up in and of itself.[/spoiler]

I don't remember the whole pimp out thing, but it's been several years since I went through this, so that is to be expected. I wouldn't cast him in such a negative light, but I will agree that he's one step away from being a sociopath. At the time of this game's translation, however, the genre was simply oversaturated with the lame goof type of protagonist and, as such, really appreciated him at the time. Also, his cynical nature made his relationship with the other characters more compelling, since he was finally able to break a little out of his shell and rely on them. Not too much, mind you, but enough to keep it realistic. I'm kind of tempted to go through the game again to see if I still feel the same way in light of your comments.
