It doesn't have any problems with saves from the American version, since it's the same one with some modified files. From what I've seen on /jp/, you can transfer your save between different versions of the game without problems.

I haven't tested the AP patch yet, but I use a M3 Real with Sakura 1.49 and I didn't notice anything like that.

Upated my R4 with Wood R4 1.19, and running fine so far.

I've updated my M3 Real with YSMenu for M3 v6.42 and it no longer freezes.

If you have a Cyclo DS, you shouldn't need the patch and, the link works.
